Most people aren't smart enough to shoot the rider on top so they only shoot the horse and don't know how to side step to the left where there is absolutely no danger, so it's proof it's OP
I guess the ATV/dirtbike in BF4 are also too OP, those take even more bullets than the horse to kill!
Man they have to keep dumbing down games more and more these days.

I think this just came out today.

There will initially be nine maps, plus a "free" map in December: https://www.battlefield.c..ames/battlefield-1/maps

Withheld content release for products is a terrible trend in gaming.

They won't mention whether admins have control of their game servers, but they are already pushing the free myth.

It will probably be like it is on the console.

No rcon access with basic server configuration options. You can kick/ban, but no prcon type software to monitor game server. You can't kick/ban players using in-game chat, you will be forced to use server control window to select which player to kick/ban.

If that does turn out to be true, it will make policing a server, a pain in the butt.

Here is proof that atfrico was right, and manbearpig was fanboying it... so much even EA and a mass amount of other beta players agree there is an issue with the horses.

here is the link from horses to every other complaint we had to EA DICE that EA DICE is going to address.

https://www.battlefield.com/news/article/battlefield-1-beta-learned?utm_campaign=bf1_hd_na_ic_soco_fb_bf1-betalearnings-fb&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&cid=18900&ts=1474304409219&sf48747652=1

"We're also looking into balancing other elements, including the weapons and vehicles. The Light Tank, which is a bit too effective in the Open Beta, will definitely receive some work, and we agree that Horses can take a few too many rounds at the moment. "

Thank you Donta1979 for the post....it is good to see the beta testers noticed what is so obvious to me, which brings my point, yet again. I was right all along

You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

Well this might be the beginning of the end of evga gaming then.

Perhaps.

Or, gaming communities will decline, but learn to adapt and migrate to other games, similar to what happened to the COD PC community when COD ditched dedicated servers.

Some COD players went to Battlefield. If BF goes the way of COD, then this may serve as an opportunity and an impetus for other game developers to fill the vacuum, much in the same way that DICE filled the vacuum when COD abandoned its PC community.

We shall see!

Lets just hope the gamer's make the communities what they are and not let a game dictate what the communities become.

True. I can't see any reason for clans to spend hundreds of dollars a month to host servers if they can't control basic features in them either. Publishers would just love to have a monopoly on multiplayer servers and have shown when they do they shut down games very quickly to push newer games. In fact that is where consoles have been for awhile now.

From where I'm at, I see gaming communities are only getting stronger. Most LANs are repeatedly breaking their own sell out records and PC sales are actually on the rise again.
As for BF1, I'll wait for actual reputable sources of server information...I don't think the sky is falling here.

I'm referring to gaming communities in general. Specific gaming communities always have some cyclical ebb and flow, like any other community.

Just curious what they are playing. Very few games offering lan support anymore which is why I'm asking.

Well, I know first-hand (involved as the admin each time) that it has happened exactly that way at least once for both BF4 and BF3. A fun bunch of folks but VERY serious about guarding their IP.

fearpoint: Sorry, I misunderstood. Really a wide range of games from the tried and true classics to new/current titles, all over the spectrum, from indie games to AAA titles. Just too many to list. As long as you have knowledgeable network admins and decent wide pipe of a connection (depending on how many users you have), the lack of LAN-based servers isn't much of an issue anymore. Even a good garage LAN is a blast now that bandwidth is cheaper and more widely available.

Good luck finding "reputable sources", when that information is probably under NDA. The good news is, we only have 2-3 weeks to wait. If we don't hear anything from game server providers about preorders, will know something is up.

The thing that worries me on servers is past old BF beta's if it was going to be private controlled servers is big gaming groups participated in the beta with their own BF servers. This time that was not the case. So very much in the air.

That is true. I don't remember seeing any of the BF1 beta servers named after a Game Server Provider, like we did in past Battlefield beta's. BF3 and BF4 open beta, we seen EA Ranked Partners hosting the beta servers.

The fact that there is no official word yet is telling. Battlefield loyalist/clansmen expect dedicated servers and would likely not preorder the game if the truth is there will be non. If there will be none, ask yourself, who stands to gain the most by not telling us. It wouldn't be the first time EA tried to ripped us off. Until I know for sure I will not preorder.

Apparently the pompous Battlefield community manager EA pays over on their official boards finally graced us dirty heathens an audience.  Proclaiming he is the community manager for the game in a thread with nearly 18k views asking about information for the servers. His response was classic EA irreverent attitude with no actual information either.

Pfffft!

EA just dangled the bait a little higher, just to see how high everyone jumps!

Look for what should be there but isn't. Not a single BF1 beta server was branded with Game Server Provider name. All the past battlefield open betas, the servers were branded.  That tells me normal GSP's will probably be left out in the cold for Battlefield 1. Hosting beta servers gives GSP's time to see what kind of resources a server needs, allows them to setup control panel too.

If i was into Battlefield 1, this wouldn't stop me from purchasing the game.

In the pics above, a possible indicator that dedicated servers will be supported is where there is FILTER BY NAME.

Why have that option if all servers will be "DICE OFFICIAL" servers?

Dedicated servers will be supported. You can set the server name, change settings, kick/ban players.

The rumor is EA/DICE is becoming the middleman for supplying dedicated servers. The PC dedicated servers, will be just like it is on the consoles for BF4. What some people are upset about is no rcon access. They won't be able to make/use custom plugins for the game or stream to anti-cheat site like PBBans. Who knows if Battlefield 1 will use Punkbuster at all. I don't see punkbuster support in StarWars:Battlefront. No rcon access also means no 3rd party stats tracking.

Will have to wait and see, if you can change all these settings on a Ranked server or if it will require server to be switch to unranked mode.

I think DICE is probably working on an app to help people who rent a dedicated server, change settings and or moderate the server.

EA can lock and hide whatever they want, but I can lock and hide my hard earned cash from their greedy hands if their product does not meet my satisfaction.
