Hi, Can anybody help me please. I am a very avid X Plane 10 user and have purchased a Titan X to run the software. My question is as follows, I am only getting around 30FPS during the simulator at best sometimes dropping down to 20-25FPS whilst at a airport, no matter what I do, V Sync off/adaptive etc it makes no odds the frames can still stutter. I checked my specs on GPU-Z and have attached the files, it is showing the card using around 6.5GB of VRAM but at nearly 100% Load, is this correct or should the load be at around 50% to match the VRAM used? The other concerning matter is when I checked my system under Intel tuning utility it only shows my Titan having 4GB of RAM????? Could the card be faulty, I'm confused as GPU-Z shows it having 12GB as so does Nvidia control panel. I do not understand MHz, clock speed etc. My specs are attached to the intel screen shot and listed below, IIyama 4K monitor running at UHD settings. I7 4790K CPU TITAN GPU EVGA SUPERNOVA 750 B2 PSU 32GB OF RAM 1333MHZ GIGABYTE Z97-D3P MOBO 500GB SDD DRIVE X2 LIQUID COOLING ON THE CPU. Is my GPU running correctly or is it faulty. Thank You.

Have you unparked your cpu cores btw- Unrelated question to help this situation Now for the REAL help, What driver are you running and what graphic settings are you running in the game? Post a screen shot of all your graphic settings for the game with in its settings Btw 4k is hard to push, I am sure your Titan X can handle it though as I have a 980 ti for 4k gaming, we just got to find that one or 2 graphic settings to turn down to help with your frame rate. For example I have Bf4 mssa off and Post effects on medium. While everything else is ultra and get 60 fps constantly. If I have msaa on and post effects on ultra, then my frame rate would be bad

The 6517 vram its using is probably correct, since sli mirrors, or off sets frames, with vram and doesn't stack it. Im not sure gpuz will show it going to 12gb, because of the way sli is seen, but I could be wrong on that. 99% load is typical full load so that no problem. Try reducing your graphics settings a little and maybe drop your pre rendered in the NVidia control panel settings for that game, not global, down to 2 frames instead of 3. Make sure your on max power also and remove GeForce experience if you have it installed. Then rerun the game and see what that does for ya and report back to us. It may just need a little very fine tweaking to get you to the proper place.

Hi, Nvidia told me to roll back to version 355.98 which I did using safemode and DDU, made no difference. I have just installed the latest one version 358.50 which has made a very slight increase, but it is very slight. I do not know what un parked cores are, sorry. Settings attached.

GPU Load is reference to the amount of resources utilized on the card. That is not the same as the amount of VRAM being utilized. The 4GB is probably still a 'stuck' value. Was your previous card 4GB? Did you uninstall the drivers (and preferably use DDU), power down, remove the old and replace the with new, power on and then install the new drivers? I have fixed a few systems with that very issue. You may be able to run DDU and reinstall and it will appear correctly without having to do all of the other, but that is how I was able to rectify that for the users. I have no idea what the frame rates should be on that simulator but it may be capped at 30FPS. It is also intensive and you are running on 4K, so that may just be what you can achieve.

Wow. You are using some high resolution settings and 2X SSAA+FXAA on a 4K monitor? I'm surprised you are getting 30FPS!

Hi, Yes uninstalled the drivers using safe mode and DDU, thanks I mainly wanted to know the GPU was not faulty. It's funny you should say that my last card was a GTX 970 but I have installed the new drivers since then and still got Intel clocking software I only have 4GB of VRAM. Could be as you say a software fault. I will play around with the settings see what I can achieve. What is un parking your CPU? During the sim the CPU usage is around 30% so I take it I'M not bottle necking? Thanks

Unparking your cores can be done with registry edits. It basically keeps a core 'active' when not in use so that it doesn't have to wake if the system transfers over use to another core. I always understood that to reduce stuttering and make the frame rate smoother, but I am by no means an expert on the subject. I also thought it was a bigger problem with AMD than Intel. Someone else will have to help with that. There are utilities that make the edits now as well. I think your frame rate limit is your settings. I think your card is fine and it might serve you well to visit the X Plane 10 forums with help in tweaking that out. By all means, if you think you are having hardware issues after that, jump back in here.

Hi, I was led to believe that if you use HDR (on), anastropic filtering makes no difference whatsoever to your graphic settings whatever the settings?

You were recommended to turn HDR antialiasing off.

I am aware of that thanks and have done so, that's not what I said, if you read it, it states turn anastropic filtering to 16x which I am led to believe has no effect on HDR.

Yes thanks I did, the frames are still around the 30 mark but I have adaptive v sync on to try steady the refresh rate as it can go as low as 15-20 when at a airport with scenery. I'M not too sure but I believe X Plane uses a lot of open GL and can be quite CPU intensive but i've checked my CPU usage which shows around the 30-50% mark when in play. I guess 30FPS is the best I can achieve but I was hoping for more with a TITAN but as previous people have stated it may be my 4K monitor.

If your monitor is a 30hz monitor, your VSync may be holding it there. If you are using an old hdmi cable. Can you post the model number to your monitor? Sorry if I missed it along the way. Please post exactly which cable you are using. Hdmi or Dp.. I found a moniyot like yours, and it is 30hz with hdmi, but 60hz with DP.

VGA (max. 1920 x1080), DVI-D (max. 3840x2160 @30Hz, max. 2560 x1440 @60Hz), HDMI (max. 3840 x 2160 @30Hz, max. 2560 x1440 @60Hz), MHL (max. 1920 x1080 @60Hz), DP v1.2 (max. 3840 x 2160 @60Hz) .
With dp1.2, you should get to 60hz.
Make sure windows and NVidia Control Panel are not set to 30hz in the resolution tab.

Ok, so it was the 30hz setting in the control panel? If so, that is an easy fix and great to hear.
I was looking for a good flight sim. Do you suggest X-Plane?

Hi, Yes X Plane is excellent although resource hungry. I would say its the best out there at the moment with lots of pay ware and freeware available. Thank you once again for the fix.
