MSI x99 Mpower m/b
Intel i-7 5930k cpu, 32 GB RAM (4 sticks)
GTX 980ti GPU
EVGA Supernova 1000P
The system has been working fine for well over a year until recently.
Approximately 75% of the time when I turn off my system at night, I come back in the morning and the system doesn't power up. It doesn't respond at all when I push the power button on the case or on the m/b- the LED is lit on the m/b's button. I have to unplug the PSU from the wall, let it sit for at least a half hour, and clear the CMOS to get it to power up again. Even then, this doesn't work every time. It will eventually work if I let it sit long enough.
I started troubleshooting with the m/b. I re-seated all the RAM, and doublechecked the cabling for the h/d's (5 total- 1 SSD, 4 spinning). I replaced the CMOS clock. I then tore the thing apart and put all components back together. The m/b people had me breadboard the system, still have the problem. They RMA'd the board and sent me a refurb (ugh), but the same issue is happening with the new(ish) board. They said its probably the PSU.
I'm now here trying to figure out if this is a common problem (I didn't see anything exactly the same after a quick serach) and if others might lead me in the right direction to fix it.
I opened a support ticket last night with EVGA, but they take a couple days to respond.
Have any of you fine folks had anything similar happen which might shine some light on the problem?

Thanks!
Mike

    Welcome to the forums.

The mobo LED means it's receiving +5VSB (+5 Volts StandBy) power from the PSU..When you press the power button, the motherboard initiates it's startup routine which includes grounding the motherboard's 24-pin ATX connector PS_ON terminal (in attachment below) which tells the PSU to fully turn on..You can do that by yourself and trick the PSU into thinking the motherboard has commanded it to turn on..This will only signal the PSU to turn on but not initiate startup though, meaning you can't completely turn on your PC by doing this.

Whenever your PC will not start, take a paper clip or piece of wire and jumper the PS_ON (Pin 16) to any Ground (Pins 15 or 17 are convenient) from the back side of the 24-pin ATX connector while it's connected to the motherboard..If the PSU does then turn on, it means the PSU isn't recieving a proper PS_ON signal from the motherboard..If the PSU does not turn on, the PSU is faulty..Disable ECO Mode on your PSU so that the fan should spin when the PSU is on..Doing this simple procedure amounts to performing a PSU Paper Clip Test as described here..And no, you won't get shocked, but take precautions such as using insulated pliers or glove if you want to.

Your PSU should have also come with a PSU Tester that fits on the 24-pin connector for bench testing the PSU while it's not connected..Refer to your PSU manual.

No problemo..The short version of all that is, that if the PSU doesn't turn on when the PS_ON terminal is grounded, the PSU (or cabling/connection) is bad..Might wanna reseat the 24-pin connector for the heck of it, but it sounds like the PSU is no good.
