You can pause it if you want to, just remember to turn it back on when you're done.
Also there is a setting to pause the WUs when the CPU is past a set % point being busy. Under options
You set the % point you want it to be.
I never used it my self, but I would think it works.

As bill1024 said above Pause your Folding and on BOINC Suspend the CPU in the Client Software Under Run Always in the Advance View.
Also once you have Paused Folding Exit as well as after you have Suspend the CPU in BOINC Exit as well.

Looks like the first WUs have been turned in. 6700K running 2 WUs if I remember right

Having weird issues here, I have my HP DL380G6 with 2x X5670's.
The % completed has stalled and the estimated completion time is up to 5 days and still going up???

Anyone seen this behavior before??

Setting the percent on CPU usage won't work for me. With the GPUs still folding, my % stays high. Since my games aren't multithreaded yet, the BOINC client wouldn't pause. Right now I'm working through some older games in preparation for playing the newest release. And a few RPG games from years past. None of them really stress the CPU very much. Anyway, I'll make sure to pause my Crunching while gaming.

Thankfully the weather is cool for this event.  3930k is about to turn in the first batch (got started a few hours late yesterday).
Around 18hrs is what BOINC claims.

And it's warm in here!!

We are doing good, holding on to 5th place so far. I hate to speak too soon. So far so good.
Nice turn out for this go round, I do believe I counted 10. Must be 10, I didn't have to take off a shoe for more digits to count on.

These Primegrid contests make me wish for more CPU power, but all I got is 1 desktop and 1 laptop. The laptop ain't much good for this type of challenge.

I would not use a laptop for primegrid, too much load and heat.
Well unless it is my ,and I only run one core of four, it does have AVX, mmmm

Looking ahead in early October, there is a short challenge, 24 hours of short WUs  SGS-LLR
I am going to throw everything I have at it including the kitchen sink.
Just will have to get a couple more PSUs
Good chance of finding a prime number running SGS-LLR I think I have 15 or so. One of the best chances for primes for sure.

Greetings from the Canadian border. My brother in law's DSL works decent.

I ran 1 test unit on a Dell laptop with 2 physical cores and the temps were intolerable, like 80C in no time. First gen i-5 so no avx I think. I have a lappy cooler and like most the fan is in center and the Dell's cooling fan is near the corner, so not worth the hassle.

Were doing well, keep it up boys!

All of my AMD cpu's just do not like these tasks... all stall at a low %, then do nothing more,
CPU's all at 100%, just no progress.

CPU's are FX-9590 and FX-8530

HK-Steve, my AMD 720 x3 needed 46 hrs to end the 1st wus but is a Phenom II with no AVX instructions, so yours 2 fx should be a lot faster.

We're doing a great job.

AMD did not implement AVX instructions properly for some reason or another. As per the mods at primegrid forum.
They don't work as well as Intel's AVX.

I just added another 22 cores and Ill try to get another dozen online. Should get one, maybe two cycles out of them.
I hope.

Thanks everyone,
No overclock, all AIO watercoolers and temps are below 45'c.
Original estimate was 24hrs, then the % just stops at a random number, but the time to complete just keeps increasing, to over 11 days.
I suspended the tasks. reset the computer, as in complete power down and motherboard led's off, drained of all power.
Started back up, completion % just stayed at the same place.

Paused, went to my enigma tasks, resumed them, completed them in 16mins no problems.

weird

Running 23 Cores 5 Computers Burning 2620 Watts and today I could not get my temps down below 77F in my house.
I did not count my 2P running only 15 Cores but is part of the 2620 Watts.
Pie on the way.

Wow thats a lot of watts, I do not want to even know how many watts I am using.
Glad its only a few days. I open the window and put a fan in the window at night when it cools off out.
I set a couple to not get more tasks, they could not finish what they have and do another round again.
A couple will be so close, what I will do is finish whats there, DL the new WUs and only do 3/4 of them. Free up some CPU and memory bandwith.
I think that will get them in on time.
Going down the final stretch to the finish line.
