I was wondering if anyone would have any suggestions about my build. I current have 1 970 and am looking to add another and upgrade the CPU. I was just wondering if these 970's would work well with an i7-6770k . Any input is encouraged!

Looks like a good build to me. Personally I would consider selling the 970 you have and getting a 980 or 980 Ti or perhaps stick it out until Pascal releases to see what is out there. The VRAM limitation of the 970 isn't worth it to SLI in my personal opinion.

Personally I would wait till Pascal came out and buy something like a 1080 and sell the 970.
I had a 970 and bought a 980ti Hybrid due to artifacting after 1 week. I am Glad I upgraded, temps went from 80c to 40c and no more articifacting.

I think you should do some research on the comparison between 2x 970s and a single 980TI before you pull the trigger on this build, or as DAVE2HOT4U mentioned. However, don't get your hopes up on the prices for the Pascal series. We could be paying a butt load of money for them.

I have and apparently the 970 SLI performs slightly better. I am just worried about the heat. I wont have liquid cooling but the 970 version I have has the ACX 2.0 + cooler stuff. I don't know if that built-in cooling is enough. can't find much on that.

With new graphics cards just a few months away, i would hold off buying a new graphic card. If you don't decide to buy one of new cards, the older gtx970 should be priced lower.

While this does not relate directly to the game performance of the machine, if you are buying a Z170 motherboard, it is usually best to spring for the fastest SSD that you can to install. You will notice a big jump in Windows performance if you go with an NVME drive like the Samsung 950 Pro over sticking with the much slower V300 Kingston SSD.
