Corsair has a forum like this one, if you have an issue with a pump, they step up to the plate and help you out.

I started out with the h70 (push/pull) and was very impressed with the temps. Last week I switched to the h100 (push/pull) and my temps are down 15 degrees  @ 4.8ghz while folding. Some of the difference has to be new paste on the h100 versus old paste on the h70, but it's still a huge difference. I'd recommend the h80 or h100.

I'm looking at the Corsair H100 on Newegg now ($120) - some high rollers around here . I remember spending like $40 on my Arctic Freezer back in the day and thinking I had gotten the best cooling money could buy (!).

For those of you that use the H100, did you go with the preapplied thermal compound or clean it off and go with your own brand?

BTW - what does "folding" mean? I see it being used alot in relation to the proc. Guess I'm very well out of the slang loop...

When i developed this types of this softwares some of questions is occured.
What type of CPU cooler actually fits these boards WITHOUT blocking one of the RAM slots ?
give me something different overview of them.

This is why I got the Corsair H60.  I didn't want to block any of the RAM slots.  I've had too many sticks of RAM die on me, I don't want to worry about having to redo my whole machine just because a stick of RAM dies.

Ah beautiful, this is truly helpful to see for my cpu cooling research (yup, still ongoing). Thanks Blazen22. Next time you are back on these boards, would you comment on its performance? I'm no overclocker but I'd like to squeeze out every bit of cold air from my components :) The Z68 FTW should be arriving today with the Gskill and Intel SSD!

Well, I have some artic silver 5 thermal paste which assists in the cooling of my Intel i5 2500k. My cpu is not overclocked, stock 3.3 Ghz. From what I remember, 10 minutes of idling in windows and my cpu temp is 32 C. I would like to tell you my full load temp, but I cant use my computer as I had to RMA my graphics card 4 days ago and don't have any cards as backup... But I wanna say about 45 C full load and 40 C  say playing BFBC2 which cpu % is @ 60%

Re:Suggestions for CPU cooler to pair with EVGA Z68 board that will NOT block RAM slot... 2011/11/12 09:40:03 (permalink)
If anyone cares, just thought it right to post my CPU cooler hunt results since so many were helpful in offering suggestions (and for any future Google travelers who may have the same questions as I did).

I ended up going with the Zigmatek Aegir with dual Cougar 120mm fans set up on it - this based on many reviews Ive read. Remember I was looking for something that would not interfere with my four RAM slots on the Z68 FTW which used the Gskill Ripjaws X with its tallish heatspreader (Gskill lists it at 40mm but its more like 42mm when its on the Z68 FTW mobo).

So far, it has been running as anticipated. It JUST fit with my Gskill Ripjaws X (all four banks being used) and the tall NB heatsink on the Z68 FTW in a front-to-back placement. Mind you the push fan does nest right against the first RAM slot but it does not force it in any way - I just didnt use the rubber push screws for the lower fan holes here. The CPU cooler fins DO sit on the NB heatsink though - which I measured to be 41mm tall. There was a 1mm or gap when the mobo was flat but, once raised into its position within the HAF 932 ADV case, it rests on the heatsink itself. Nothing too pressured though - I can live with it.

As for the results, cold boots for the proc are 28c and idle is about 30c - stays in the low 30s. Under load, I have yet to see it top 45c. I have a fan at every possible placement in the HAF 932 ADV case btw so I'm sure that helps.

But there you have it - not the sexy pick I was hoping for but the price was right and the results as expected. As a direct contact heatpipe design, I applied two less-than-pea-sized drops of the Xigmatek-included paste on the inner-most heatpipes and that gave me the best results. I reseated the bloody thing about 4 times trying various other "recommended" methods I came across on sites.

The z68 boards are designed to fit huge cpu coolers without blocking ram. You wont have a problem with any cpu cooler on the market. I have an arctic 13 and have plenty of room.

I've got one of the older H50s (now discontinued) and it is a great cooler... allow me to answer some questions about sealed liquid systems that I saw posted earlier...

*will it leak? - Not unless you cut the pipes or rip them out, both would be tough to do.

*will it keep pumping? - Mechanical fault aside? Yes, I haven't heard of any failing and Corsair has great customer service

*how do they work? - the radiator is the big black box, generally it goes where you would normally put an exhaust fan and you attach a fan to it either as push or pull, mine is behind the rad sucking hot air off of it and pumping it out of my case. The pump is the part that bolts to the processor and they are pretty much silent and more efficient than air coolers. Yes they keep similar temperatures to air coolers but they keep them at those temperatures under heavier loads which is all any watercooling does really, just that the bigger DIY systems are more efficient.

Basically for the price of a top air cooler you can get something better (in my experience of 13+ months using the H50 which was the absolute basic model with a single fan and I still only have one fan on it)

*edit* of course as an additional to my QA there, mechanical fault can happen in the same way your air cooler can arrive with dead fans...this is what RMA is for but as said, I am yet to hear of it and most serious reviews on SLCS systems are practically glowing.

Sadly upgrade didn't happen... system is:

AMD Athlon II X4 640
GTX 570 Classified
8gb Corsair Vengeance RAM 1600
ASUS M4A78LT-M-LE mainboard
NZXT BETA Evo case

Zalman Reserator external tower liquid cooling (black anodised version)
