Hello all, first post on the forum, thought i'd share a little info about this

So about 2 weeks ago I contacted EVGA support and asked about the problem where the GTX 770 would not allow the fans speeds to spin lower than 41%. I was told EVGA are working on an update, and it should be ready by next week but wasn't 100% sure. Well, its passed that time and were still waiting. I'm sitting here with the card idling and the fan speed is 41%, its irritating hearing it hum away when it doesn't need to. I honestly can't fathom how this problem could exist, but hey, here we are.
Apparently bios updates are always posted on the forums, I have been checking every day but nothing has come to light.

The card itself is pretty good.  It seems stable with a +300 mem OC and a 65% GPU clock offset with a power target of 101%

    *Bump*

    I just realised my GTX 770 GPU was running on PCI-E x16 v1.1 and not on PCI-E x16 v3.0

    *DOH!*

Not sure how much of a performance boost this is going to give me, but I have a feeling its going to help with some little random frame stutters

did you get that reading on GPU-z? cause if so thats normal when the card is idle

If you want to check and see if its running at 3.0 then click on the "?"icon next to it and run the test

I'm only on a 2.0 board, but this shows that its working how it should when under load

Pretty much 5 minutes after I posted this, I realised that the card was entering v1.1 for power saving, and then ramping up to 3.0 during load. However, before i discovered this, I changed a BIOS setting from auto, so I can definitely confirm i'm running at full 3.0 speed.
