So, how does EVGA handle the step up process for someone if when shipped to EVGA, the package gets lost?...

I just had to open an investigation with UPS because my package has been in limbo for days now. Because of the 14 days to get the card to EVGA, I was curious.

    Dear MaelstromOC,

I am sorry to hear of the issue. I recommend working with UPS and if it does come to the point where they do issue you a insurance payment then let us know and we can cancel and refund the Step-up request to assist.

Me too! This 4850 just isn't cutting it lol. I'm glad I actually had an old card lying around to throw in here.

Alright, so now I'm presented with a new conundrum. They are not going to find this package... the investigation has two days left. They should have just paid me for it from the get go, but whatever. NOW, the package is really worth what the stepup is worth, but I guarantee you they're not going to see it that way unless EVGA intervenes to explain the situation. I've already tried and it's like talking to a brick wall.

Basically, what I'm looking at here, is them giving me the replacement cost (which is BS) of like $460 or something, when I was supposed to be receiving a 980 Reference in return ($610).

What in the world can I possibly do about this? Hopefully someone at EVGA can chime in. I'll likely be calling later on today to see what can be done about this.

Wow, that's crazy Maelstrom.  I remember you stepped up early and waited patiently in the queue with the rest of us.  You were one of the early ones to get past the queue, can't believe that happened to you and I hope you have it resolved properly.  Good luck bro.

Still no update... and the lady said they're only liable for $100 if they don't find the package. The ONE time I ship a package without insurance, this happens. What's awesome is, it was lost in Cerritos, CA. It was basically where it was going.

They lost my card, sent me a claim form. UPS got the best deal on a 780 Classified ever. A whopping $100... a steal! But, a friend of mine and I worked out a deal (I actually bought him a 780 Classified at the same time as I bought my second one lol, so he gave me his step-up 980 and bought a 980 Classified for himself.) I'm still out like $500... but I guess it's better than the alternative.

Also, it's amazing how no one at UPS understands that Insurance is not Declared Value. I've never talked to so many people that have no idea what the business they're supporting does in my life. It's completely absurd.

Yep. What's amazing is that you don't actually need to buy that insurance (it's actually overpriced.) All you should need to do according to their policy is ensure that you've set a declared value in the chance they lose the package or it becomes destroyed. UPS insurance isn't actually real insurance. Not to mention, you can insure a package via a third party for .50/$100 worth of insurance.

Regardless, this is one of the few times I've actually shipped a package via UPS without insuring it... and I'll surely never do it again. It made it to Cerritos, which is in the same county in LA as EVGA's RMA department lol. How horrible is that...

Kinda makes you wish you had put a GPS tracker in the card - make a trip to the thieving UPS workers house and make sure that he can never steal people packages again.

Sucks when the big businesses such as UPS screw people over.
