Not surprising and I don't envy you for being that close to such a situation. I grew up in California and left many years ago and haven't looked back. I now live near Baltimore MD (in the process of purchasing a new house in PA) and used to work in the city and I'm no stranger to seeing crime and violence either (plus the riots that recently occurred). It's somewhat amazing to see just how bad some cities have become like LA, Chicago, Baltimore, Detriot, etc. You have super strict gun laws in some of these areas which haven't done much of anything to keep guns out of the hands of criminals simply because of strawman purchases and the massive amounts of just illegal arms floating around. I'd rather see the government just brought back capital punishment and just ended it. If their not gang banging on the street their just doing it within the jail.
