I was selling the 970 backplate on ebay but was doing local pickup only, well some guy in florida bought it but his address is unconfirmed.

Is it possible to back out of the sell?
I don't want to ship it and especially not to a unconfirmed address

If you were selling it for local pick up, Why would you ship it?

If he paid you and the address is unconfirmed, You're not going to lose anything. So long as you use eBay to ship it, They can track the package and you'll be fine.

You can send him an ebay request for cancellation with reason specified.
Option is available in the Resolution Center. http://resolutioncenter.ebay.com/

I'm not willing to ship but if I can't somehow not not get out of it then I'll have to ship it.

I wanted to local because I didn't want to hassle shipping something like this

Did you have it listed cheap with no shipping fee? Shipping to an unconfirmed address is no longer an issue. What you must do is ship it to the address from the PayPal payment and you are covered.

Refund the money and ask the buyer when he plans to come pick up the item then. If he can't make it in 5 days file a non payment in the Resolution Center and relist the item.

How about a link to your listing?

Make sure the buyer accepts the cancellation otherwise ebay will make you pay the Final Value fee which is 14% of total price (10% goes to ebay and 4% goes to paypal).

True eBay will charge you if it's not canceled, but only eBay's fee is in that charge, the fee has nothing to do with PayPal. Once you refunded the PayPal payment their fee was given back to you.
