Something work in background, you see card clock is almost full boost.
She stay on base clock, I don't know how can be, I have 3-4 browsers open and clock is 324 /162 MHz...
Your shouldn't be over 600 MHz if you don't do nothing.
Maybe is some virus, malware, try to disable internet connection and restart PC and check again.
Look in task manager what's going on, check firewall...

Weird, memory and GPU Load are 0%, TDP is little higher 25%.
My TDP is 9-10% in idle, TDP - Power Consumption.

According to your screenshot GPUz says your cards fan is stopped    Have you looked to see if it is spinning ?  Another thing check to see if your fan and cooler are filled with dust ?

I didn't saw that at all.
How that happen and you didn't notice.
But if fan is silent, 30-40%
I hope you will start fan somehow if he stop really as GPU-Z show.

You can buy compressed air, but for me that's wasting of money, maybe before you manage for something better as electric duster, Data Vac, but brush anti-static and compressed air could help.
Check fan connection, did fans really stop, look inside of case.
I doubt it's dust, that's new card, I have more than year card and barely you can see dust under fan, almost nothing.
Did you ask EVGA, on some cards fan start to work when temp pass 60C.
If someone have 980 Classified can look.
You can check that, easy and fast, open GPU-Z two screens, on one sensors on other start render test,
and look when temp pass 60C and stop on 65-66C.

my fans are working proper, they start at 60c

Try moving bios switch to the oc position.

:But it shuld work on normal right? then i have to ship it back to evga cus i don`t want to youse a broken card. But ill try.

The problem is that the reading on the mhz are on 1726 on idle and the temps are on 45c while they shuld be more like 126 -300 mhz and temps on 35c on idle

Everything but the fan looks normal on your first photo. The only difference between the factory BIOS switches are the fan profiles. I had the same problem, change to OC and your problem will be fixed.

Ok so you have a single card, I was comparing yours to my SLI setup by mistake. The BIOS switch will fix your temp issue but you definitely have something working in your background that's using the card when it's supposed to be idle.

What is your NVCP power management mode set as? If max performance, then I suggest you change it to adaptive and that should take care of the constant max your card is sitting at.

    Kamakazi,
I kind of have the same issue...I found out mine may be due to a Higher refresh rate on my monitor.
By chance are you running 144MHz refresh rate?

How many degrees was on beginning when you installed card and first days?
I would try to install windows again with all updates Net Frameworks and than graphic card driver and dx web update or check graphic in another PC.

To be quite honest, idle temps are hardly anything to worry about as long as it's below normal load temps. It's more an oddity that it's idling higher than what you had seen before than anything. Your load temperature in D3 looks absolutely normal, so the card isn't overheating. Thermal cutoff for a 980 is 98c, and anything below 90 isn't going to cause issues.

Most likely it's caused by either ambient temps higher than previous, dust buildup, or the fan curve was changed/reset somehow.

Hi and Welcome to the forums!!

First off that is Not Acceptable to be idling in 3D Clocks no matter what your temp is unless its the Monitor pulling and it wasn't doing that to begin with.
There is something definitely pulling your cards use.
Did changing your monitor to 120 Hz while idling bring the clocks down to normal?
If not, then open up your Task manager and view the Processes Tab and look to see what programs are running in the CPU Column which shows the percentage of CPU use in different programs. That should let you know what is using your card.
Let us know what you find :)

In case you don't know -- to open up Task Manager you need to push down keys Ctrl - Alt - Delete at the same time and it will open.

Also, the card will start to Throttle way below the 90C mark so anything around 70C will bring your clocks down as well.

Thanks for replaying guys! Dunno why my gpu is 7c hotter then normal,But that's something I culd live  with. The only thing that bugs me is the Gpu memory clock that are peaking up to 1726mhz while browing on chrome..
And are stuck at 1726Mhz while playing Diablo 3 and Cod Aw..I formatted all of my disks and installed windows 8.1 today and still getting the same reads...Is this supposed to happened? Thanks again!

What about your PC case fans; any changes with your case or the fans?  The PC case has to breath to have the cool air for the GPU.

Like one of the other members said; is the room the PC is in warmer now; close to a heat source?

Are you using EVGA Precision X 16?  Any other software that can change GPU fans - like Afterburner?

what you can try is go to chrome settings and look for advanced setting on the bottom open it, look for system and uncheck both continue running background apps and use hardware acceleration mabey it helps..

I like to use CPUID HWMonitor along with CPUID & Spency   (all are FREE versions)  You should not guess - use a utility or actual readings if you have the equipment and expertise

Let us know about the voltage and temperature readings from the above mentioned utilities: idle, casual load and while using the system like a bench marking software.
