Hello,
one of my 480 GTX Superclocked edition cards died while gaming :(
just recently shipped it to Evga for RMA, so far i am really pleased with the support thus far. however, i am concerned that i won't get another 480 GTX SC and render my other 480 GTX i have in SLI useless. i would much rather have another 480 GTX SC than say a 500 series (or whatever) due the performance i get from 2 480s. my friend for example has a 680 GTX and i get more FPS than him with my 2 480s SLIs, i also beat him in just about every benchmark. really shows just how powerful these 480s still are even though they are a few years old, they kick butt (despite being a bit power hungry).

would i be able to get another 480 GTX SC?

thanks.

If you Told EVGA that you are running in SLI Mode they will take care of you, as long as you told them when you sent in your RMA Request.

Yes, like B said, if you are running SLI, you NEED to alert them of this as they may take both cards back if they do not have a 480 to replace yours with.

    Scubs,

I just double checked the RMA request that was submitted and i do see that the SLI checkbox was marked as True.  So with that, our RMA department will do their best to send out a replacement which is the same model, so as to not break your SLI set up.

well just as i feared, i received a card other than a 480 GTX Superclocked.. received a 760 so now my SLI is rendered useless and i get way better performance on Dual SLI 480s than 1 760...
so i don't see what the point in "checking" that SLI option in the RMA.

i am not sure how these newer card are made but doesn't seem like the quality from my previous 480 SC, i can already hear a low pitch screeching sound coming from one of these cheap looking fans.
not to mention they cheapy looking and flimsy compared to the 480 felt like it was bending just inserting it into the slot, the 480 built like a tank. a $150 card is definitely not built like a $500 card.

my only option right now is try to sell this 760 for pocket change and try to find another 480 GTX

The 760 isn't going to sell for very much at all. At most, you are looking at 140 to sell it. Initially they were $250 which made them an effective cost saver, but they definitely don't have the processing power of the 480. Contact EVGA and find out what happened. I know they are giving them away on twitch during streams, so they should have them available for RMA concerns.

yeah that's why i said sell for "pocket change"
maybe i can find someone on local craigslist willing to trade a 480 for the 760.. had i known i was going to end up with a broken SLI setup i would of kept the 480 instead of RMA and tried fixing it. i think what tends to happen is the vram chips soldering tends to break from the heat and simply using a rework soldering station would reseat them.

hmm so what if i sell my other 480 GTX and get another 760 for SLI? i think SLI 760s will beat or be close the 480s performance. i do like how the 760 runs a bit cooler temps..

Welp, looks like EVGA is doing an RMA on the working 480 GTX and replacing it with another 760 so i can run in SLI. not too happy with these 760s, but i guess it's better than having a broken video card..
