Hello, I have recently purchased a 650 Ti Boost 1GB version to replace my old GTS 450, and it's working great aside from the driver crashes every ~5-10 minutes. It is not only while I am running a game, but even while I am just surfing the web or sitting at my desktop. It has even crashed twice while writing this very thread. *Edit* The message I get is the kernel driver 314.22 has crashed but has been recovered. The screen flashes black, minimizes whatever I was working on, but does come back online.

I'll admit I'm no tech expert so I don't really know where else to go. I have downloaded the newest drivers (I had the same problem with 314.16 as well), as well as the newest DirectX and most of the programs that came with the EVGA instillation disc. I have found another thread where someone was getting the same error, but his GPU was overheating, so it was probably a different issue.

Here are some specs that will hopefully help:

I appreciate any help or advice anyone has to offer, thanks!

What is the exact make & model of your PSU?

Also, try the latest beta driver 320.00  I find it to be a much better, more stable driver than the one you're using.  Make sure to do a custom install only installing the graphics & PhysX portion of the driver.  Don't install the audio or the 3d aspects of the driver.  Put a checkmark in the "clean install" box as well.

If you're not familiar with the more current method of installing drivers these days, this link has lots of good info in it.  Even if you are familiar, it's a good read through if you haven't already.. >> http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1776353

To add to bdary you might also want to wipe all of your old video drivers and do a fresh install.

The beta drivers seemed to do the trick. I was beginning to think it was the card when I tried several previous versions but all seems to be well now, thanks guys!

    FYI --
I was having the same issue for months with my GTX570 -- it never crashed my system, but it was annoying as heck!!  I tried everything, removing drivers, clean driver installs, etc.  Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, corrected the problem.  So, I purchased a GTX670 FTW and installed it in my system.  Guess what?  EXACT same thing.  About every 5 minutes, even when doing nothing at all, my screen would go black for a couple of seconds and then come back, with a popup by the system tray saying "blah blah blah has stopped responding and has been recovered".  What are the chances of two different video cards being bad?  No, had to be something on my system.

Well, I ran Windows Update manually on the 15th of April, and I have not had ONE SINGLE instance of this behavior.  That's right, 3 weeks later, system hasn't been shut down since then, and it has not occurred once since I did this.  Unfortunate thing is I have no idea which of the updates fixed things, but it was obviously something in the update process that corrected the issue.

I'm having the exact problem with the GTX 650ti Boost I got a few days ago. Nvidia driver crashes and usually recovers, not during games or under stress but when I'm not doing anything or performing minor tasks. My card seems to have the updated 80.06.59.00.50 BIOS

First I tried driver sweeper, reinstalling the 314 drivers, re-seating the card, and switching 6-pin power cables. This morning I reinstalled Windows on a different hard drive and just had it happen after an hour or so on the fresh install. This is after updating windows 7. Next I'm going to try the 320 beta driver.

It wouldn't be that big of a big deal if it was just having driver errors but occasionally it locks up and doesn't recover.
