As title states C3 has more AA options than you can shake a stick at.  I really have not been able to figure out which is best all I know is that my 690's do not have enough vram to do 8xMSAA at 2560x1440.  Enjoying the beta so far what settings are you guys using and how is the game running for you.

I also had a look at TXAA, it adds a bit of blur to the image so my choice is still SMAA.

I'm running 2560x1600 with two GTX 670 overclocked to 1228mhz.  With SMAA 2x, it starts to struggle a bit.

Without waiting for future patches and driver performance updates, what other AA would you go with besides SMAA?  I am looking to maintain good image quality and improve FPS...cuz damn SMAA is killing me and I can't add a 3rd 670 :(

The thing that isn't super apparent is that in this game, fps == kills.  No joke, if I am getting higher framerates, I'm much more competitive than if I'm getting something in the 30s.  This doesn't really apply in other games, at least not this pronounced - Battlefield for instance I was still competitive on Medium at 30-45 on my old Q6600 (8800GT).

With everything maxed out, I'm hitting mid 50s to 60s in 1080p, like Jacob.  The thing is, I am having a hard time understanding where exactly they're spending the GPU horsepower!  "Incremental upgrade" as a statement is frankly a bit generous.
By the way, as soon as I turn on surround, the bottom drops out.  Best I'm getting is something like 45, with everything turned off.  I could see that, sure, but when I crank most things up to high with SMAA, I still get 30-40.  Which is completely insane.  There's no compromises.  Turning off ALL anti-aliasing maaaybe budged the framerate by 2.

Highest settings in surround, 16-20fps, with SLI.  Super, glad I spent the money.  Stuff like this just feels janky as hell, like that "super sampling" mode in Witcher 2 which makes zero difference in the look of the game, but manages to 1/4th your framerate.

Although I've only addressed graphics, so far I have to also say that I've enjoyed this version of Crysis the least as well.  The environments don't look natural or industrial, they're a stupid mash-up of the two, they look and feel contrived and silly.  There is virtually no weapon balance; either snipe or melee your way to success.  Don't bother with something like the heavy machine gun, unless you like shooting slowly and not being able to aim.  The two modes presented in the beta are "capture the blob" and "run around like an idiot."  Neither are very compelling, although capture the pod or whatever is about 100x more fun than the elimination/whatever mode presented.

Wow -  I REALLY like the other Crysis games.  This one, first impressions from 2 hours with the game...  Is not being purchased.  Thank GOD I didn't pre-order.

I basically got the same framerate with FXAA enabled or disabled this morning. Try that as an alternative to SMAA.

MSAA is right out - it performs terribly, and as Jacob points out in his blog post, looks worse than SMAA too.

I wasn't as upset at the game this morning. I just have to temper some of my super high expectations with reality.  I thought this would look / feel really "next gen omg" and it only looks "pretty great."  I need to go back to Crysis 2, because I feel like I need to compare/contrast.

Anyone else notice that there's kind of a "static" filter on top of everything - especially when you're looking into the distance?  It's a bit like Mass Effect, but not nearly as pronounced.  Maybe it's supposed to be fog, maybe I'm looking at fog from too far away or something.

It will definitely do SLI. Grab the evga sli enhancement or just add the mp exe to the Crysis 3 profile in nvidia inspector.

It works with SLI, you just have to download the latest beta driver.  SLI isn't enabled on older drivers

Actually, I think I need to take these steps- I haven't updated past the WHQL driver.

Let me ask a quick question - do I need to be running the beta drivers AND the SLI patch from EVGA?

...  Also, it's odd, because I am getting 99% usage on both GPUs, but I can tell you, I haven't updated drivers.  So would PrecisionX show GPU usage, even if the game isn't using SLI?

I've tried SMAA and it does look ok, but i'd rather run with no AA and benefit from increased framerates as I have always preffered in my over decade of PC gaming.

No. You should see 0% usage on your 2nd card if SLI is not working. The beta drivers supposedly help increase performance as well as add sli once you either A) add the MP.exe to the Crysis profile in Nvidia Inspector....or B) you install the EVGA Sli enhancement patch.

Holy cow, the beta driver made a HUUUUUUGE difference!!

In surround, here are some tests that I ran:
All figures here are at 6000x1080 -- at 1080p I'm routinely getting 80+ fps with everything Very High with SMAA x2!

    At 6000x1080:
    1.  All items set to "Very High" except shading, set to "High" and no AA:  51-64fps!  Average of 55.
    2.  With Shading also set to Very High, avg fps drops to 35-40.
    3.  With All at Very High except Shading (high), and FXAA:  45fps
    4.  Same as  #3 but with SMAAx1:  36fps
    5.  Same as #3 but with SMAAx2: 25fps
    6.  Same as #3 but with TXAA (med): 26fps
    7.  Sameas #3 but with MSAAx2:  40fps

If I drop all settings down to High, with no anti-aliasing, at 6000x1080:  68-77fps.  Bear in mind, just yesterday, with everything set to "Low" (and no AA) I was getting 45.

All at High with SMAAx1: 35-40fps (still odd - you can see this is about the same as when other settings are up, and only a touch faster than without the beta driver by about 5fps...  It's my opinion that the behavior should be different.)
    High, SMAAx2:  25fps
    High, FXAA: 46fps

I think my sweet spot is "Very High with Shading set at High, no antialiasing" or "All at High with FXAA."

This driver has improved performance at a minimum of 40% but I can tell you it feels like an even bigger leap than that.  Surround is fully playable.  1080p is CRUSHED.  WOW what a difference.

the beta is actually really fun lol but i had to turn down some of the graphic settings cause i was getting weird results like it would turn on these weird outlines of every object and performance would drop so i lowered my settings a tad and its fine now i think they are having trouble with the high settings in the beta

Yeah, the white outline on the vegetation and objects is starting to bug me.  According to a Crytek representative that responded to the problem in the MyCrysis forums, it's a problem with MSAA, so FXAA, SMAA x1, and SMAA x2 should work.  Which is odd, considering I'm getting the problem using SMAA x2.  Oh well, it's supposedly a beta-only problem.  Supposedly.

Yeah, I'm hoping for some more optimization. This beta runs just barely better than the Alpha.

That info was getting spread around wrong. The glowing edges affects SMAA, specifically the higher levels of it. MSAA does not carry this bug, and nVidia + Crytek are both aware of it so expect a fix.

Randomly poor performance can also be caused by water. Both High + Very high water causes lag, throw a shield into the water and watch or, or track another players footsteps, etc. Set the water to Medium, problem gone.

Good driver btw, no issues yet.
