This'll be modded to the point it no longer looks like this release in a matter of a month or less. It's Skyrim and people mod it to death. What you're getting is 64-bit and a few other updates as a foundation for modders to start playing with.

whiskers54 For those that are lucky to be able to play it there is a G-Sync issue that is playing havoc with FPS rates. It is being said to turn G-Sync off. Keep this in mind if you are having low FPS.
what kind of FPS are you getting while GSYNC is active? Try turning VSYNC on, see if that helps.
I don't have it installed yet. I was doing some reading in the comments section and that issue popped up. Seems to be an issue with more than one user.

I decided to play the first quest and go to White Run. Looks like they didn't fix the random crash to desktop. I delivered the frost salts and as soon as I asked for alchemy training the game crashed to desktop without a warning. Looks like you have to save and save often.

I'm sure it will get patched in no time, people probably have already notified them.

Do the latest drivers (375.63 as of this post) recognize this game? I'm using an older version due to folding issues on the latest one, and was wondering if it has a profile for it. (namely SLI and if not, is there one already created I can edit in with Nvidia inspector or something? (assuming a straight copy of the SLI profile for classic skyrim doesn't work well)

According to Shockjockey, the latest drivers do not work with SLI on SE yet. Shockjockey The game unlocked for me about 11 oclock my time. Looks more crisp but nothing to write home about. They did finally fix the blocky shadows. Plays nice and smooth. Only using one of my cards at about 60 percent to maintain 60fps at 2560x1600 ultra settings. SLI doesn't work with latest driver. Putting it away now till they make compatible mods for it. Oh! I almost forgot the game did not install anything extra when it unlocked so the new game is actually smaller in size than the original.

375.70 drivers are out but still no SLI even though it is a game ready driver for this game.

GSYNC "works" but I get random drops in FPS every few minutes, utterly unplayable while the FPS is in the teens if not lower. Then it will come back to normal. Alt tab still bugs out and causes the monitor to black screen. The game does need a serious patch, like big time. Edit: Setting the GLINK to "ULMB" stopped the drop in FPS. also set vsync to adaptive.

I'm all over the place in FPS and that is just the opening scenes at my execution. I couldn't take it anymore and shut it down. You're right about the patch. I'll wait and see if they do it before I continue.

You obviously have GSYNC. Enable ULMB mode and set VSYNC to adaptive. Try that.

The more I play this the more I am disappointed. The graphic quality is very bad. Guess I am used to the newer games like the Witcher.

That's probably what it is. I'm in the same boat. The game was made in 2010 era (released 2011) after all.

Yes and no. Pros - Huge area to explore. You can literally spend hundreds of hours exploring the map and still end up not finding or seeing everything.
- Tens of thousands of available mods. As of today there are nearly 50,000 mods available for this game.
- Intriguing and impressive amount of history to be found and learned about. See below about story line.
Cons - Dated graphics. As previously mentioned, this game was released in 2011 and the graphics reflect that. Though this can be corrected to some varying degrees with mods.
- Mediocre story line. If your looking for a revolutionary story line, you won't find it here.
- Everything that was fixed in vanilla Skyrim seems have been broken again in the special edition.
Setting graphics aside and focusing on overall game play, Oblivion smokes Skyrim in many aspects. As I've stated prior. My modded 32bit Skyrim is leaps and bounds beyond the special edition. But it would be easy enough to take the SE to the same level.

I would agree. And I have yet to even play a single Witcher game. They need to abandon that game engine for something newer and it wouldn't hurt if they brought in someone who could write a decent story.

It's actually pretty decent. I'm at level 20 now (no mods). Apparently if you activate the mods, it disables you from getting the achievements within steam. However, I can see this version being more intense with a lot of mods, and could potentially put more stress on one's PC (depending on their setup).

The graphics looks the same because all they did was increase the texture resolution from 720p(if you used the HD texture DLC) to 1080p. They made shadowing slightly better as well. That's it visually. Compared to modern games like Witcher 3 which use tons of post processing effects, Skyrim is going to look poor.
Not my fault if you're offended.

Yep, exactly that. In order for them to make Skyrim "look good" (which is what you all were expecting), it would require a whole new do-over with textures, movements, visuals, etc., basically a whole new game. Then, at that point, they might as well call it Elder Scrolls 6.

Much of which can be done with mods. Textures and some visuals anyway. It's entirely possible to make Skyrim almost photo realistic.

There is a dilemma though that Bethesda added which I find completely stupid. If you activate mods on the SE edition, then you cannot get any achievements. If you don't care about the achievements, then go ahead, turn on every mood that you can.

Just download the mod that reactivates achievements. I use this guys mod for Fallout 4 when Bethesda thought it would be a good idea to do that in Fallout 4.
