I will try that, but I'm still puzzled that since this Koolance 402x2 Dual Bay unit is in "series" with each other that if I open one of the front bay screws (while the motors are still running), I don't get any pressure issues on the one side, but if I try to open the other side (while it's still running) the fluid starts to rise and starts to come out. Now that I'm thinking about it, maybe the one side is putting out more pressure than the other side.

In any case, when I shut down the pump and try to open both screws one either side the one side (that I'm unscrewing) the fluid will start to rise as if it's pressurized and the fluid wants to come out (and again, this will happen on BOTH sides when the motors are off). This is strange. I'm going to call Koolance and ask Tim or James what's up with that. Thanks again for your thoughts.

BTW, I wanted to update you guys on the build. I'm almost finished and will be posting pics here within the next 7 to 10 days (hopefully) and also wanted to let you know that I followed the direction from Martin at and he too went through the same thing in the past, so I don't feel so bad. The great thing is that there is no bubbles in the system now and everything is working quietly. Those DDC pumps in series are just incredible... Thanks for following and can't wait to post more pics. Later... PNugg...

Hey guys,

Here's a brief update. I'm almost there with completing the build. I really wanted to provide more pics as the progress was coming along but I honestly haven't had the time. When I get a moment, I will post everything from beginning to end of my build process. For now I hope you like what you see... Take care everyone, later... :)

Thanks. Now if I can only get Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 up and running... Hopefully things will work out tomorrow to get it going. Minor EFI partition issues that give me a boot error. Have to use the USB Boot stick to get it Lion 10.7.2 to work, but it won't boot on it's own.  BTW, I just saw your rig - very clean & tight. I like it...  Later...

Oh, thanks for liking my rig. And good luck with that Mac OS X stuff O don't understand a thing about, maybe I should mess with OS X sometime just for the fun .

Re:Silverstone TJ11 / EVGA SR-2 Mac Hak Pro Build - YES, IT FITS !!! 2012/02/04 20:21:32 (permalink)
Hey Everybody:

My apologies on taking so long (as you know family and work come first), but I wanted to finally post as many pics as I could find during the course of my build that I did not post initially. Now you can see the progress of this build. I tried to put them in the best order possible. As you can see, I did go with the SR-2 Mobo back plate (by: MountainMods.com). I did have to custom cut it to be able to fit it to the other part of the connecting panel so i can easily slide it in and out.

Everything else has been custom cut to make sure the the Positive Channelling Airflow design that Silverstone Tek created for the TJ11 case (as with the other case models) was left as is. BTW, having cool air coming in the from the bottom and rising warm air to the top is a natural scientific cycle that is only amplified by the design of this case. It seems like this case (as well as the FT02) are now used as benchmarks for PC magazines when they review other PC cases. That's pretty amazing. Here's a perfect example of how cool this case is (internally) by comparison to other cases currently on the market:

http://www.bit-tech.net/h...e-temjin-tj11-review/3

THAT is why I chose this case; that and I also got a great price as this was THE official touring model (finished product) that Silverstone Tek used to showcase the TJ11. I say this because this was the ONLY model that I was told (by Joel at Silverstone), that has the Silverstone logo painted on the bottom front part of the case. The production models that finally came out gave you 2 different magnetic logos to choose from (which I have but don't need) that you can actually put in front of the case that is optional. I was going to remove the painted logo, but since this is a one of a kind case, I decided to leave it on there.

The custom made magnetic air filters that are on the bottom (pictured), front & back of the case were ordered from demcifilter.com. This is BY FAR THE BEST AIR FILTERS ON THE MARKET. Nothing else  compares. Now the air filters that Silverstone makes are fantastic, they have about 32 strands per inch. Which is pretty tight to keep most of the dust out. But I say most, because every 6 to 12 months you have to blast out the dust from the case. Now with these new custom made to fit air filters from Demciflex are nothing short of amazing! The fiber strands are so tightly woven together that I had to take a 30 Times loop magnifying glass to count (get this) 115 strands per square inch! There is nothing that I have found on the market that can compare to that type of tightly woven filtering material - PERIOD !!!

They have 2 different colors black and white for filters. I chose black for the front, bottom, back part of the case, and for the sides of the case I chose white. One of the reasons why I chose the white colored set of black was I wanted to actually see the difference in how the contrast of the color was going to change when dust accumulated on these filters. I can't stand to see any kind of dust on a black filter, so that was part of the reason why I chose white for the sides. What I tried to do though, was actually dye the polyester fiber with a polyester dye that you actually have to boil in water to a low simmer along with a cup of salt in order to expand just enough of the polyester fiber in order for the color to soak in to stay on there permanently. This fiber is so strong and I actually let it sit for the 1st half-hour (as per the instructions of the polyester dye). When I pulled it out in rinsed it under cool water the filter was still pure white.

I decided to leave it in the simmering (low boil) green dye for 90 min. longer. Yes, I was trying to dye it green to match the rest of the green color scheme of my HACKIN-BEAST, but when I was done and washed off the rest of the die, well… It was still pure white and the fiber did not warp or wrinkle whatsoever, but what did happen was the magnetic surrounding materials came unglued rendering the side filters unusable. That's okay though as I actually went into a hobby store (more specifically Hobby Lobby; a retail chain of stores better in the Houston, TX area) and found some great green (slightly metallic sheen) material that was just as fine in its fiber count per square inch as the Demciflex filter. That's not to say though that I would use material like that for filtering, but because I was able to reuse the metal molded mesh that was specifically made for the TJ11, I was able to actually put it on top of the metal molded mesh and it fit perfectly. Now I know you don't understand fully what I'm saying because you cannot see the pictures yet (as I have not uploaded those), but I will be loading up the final pics tomorrow or during the course of this week.

On a side note, I do want to mention that the sound suppressing foam material that I purchased from Silverstone Tek for the case doors, was also used for the radiators as well in order to create the barrier needed to create that perfect seal needed to prevent excess air from escaping from the Delta fans as well as the Silverstone AP121 Air Channeling fans.

Thanks again for following this post and I truly look forward to your feedback as well. Later for now...

Hey All,

Here are the final pics of the HACKIN-BEAST !!! I actually have Mac OS X 10.7.2 up and running fine now and the X5650's are OC'd to 4.0GHz stable at 34C in a 74F room. This unit's total cost $3,350. A Top-of-a-Line (equivalent) Mac Pro Tower (with all the trimmings) would cost around $10,750. This HackinBeast is also 30% faster as you can OC this bad boy as with a Mac Pro Tower… you can't. Oh, by the way, for those that believe that PC's are cheaper, a BOXX Tech (PC equivalent tower) would cost around $10,600. So both Apple and BOXX Tech are about the same cost when you pay retail. Plus, half the fun (as all of you know) is building it.

I also want to give credit where credit is due:

WOw! That rig is friggin beautiful man! Forget your room I think this thing belongs in a showroom! Everytime I see a rig you guys make, makes me more and more jealous and gives me more and more ideas that will get me into trouble! DARN YOU BAD INFLUENCES!!!  JK

But wow. I would love to be playing games on this thing. Only problem is if I had that, I would turn my lights off, load my game, go afk because I would probably get lost at looking at the inside of the rig itself.

Man this is some beautiful work. I know I have said it before but this truly deserves to be in a computer rig modding museum!

Wow, thanks a lot for the compliment. That is very encouraging. I really appreciate that as this is my second PC build. I wish I would have gotten into building these PC's sooner. But what matters is that I found something that not serves my purposes for work but also is a great hobby and outlet for my creativity. Again, thanks... :-) Later...

Hey all, I haven't forgotten anyone here and I will be posting more pics on the build, and I'm just as anxious on getting this build done as newer CPU's have been released and I don't want to have this done when EVGA (whenever they decide to) release their new Dual OC'ing Mobo that will be able to work the newer processors (since this Mobo is already a year old). But to me, it's still going to be a screamin' machine; especially for what I'm going to be using it for. Anyway, I've been very busy (holiday season) and this is a whole new level of build for me (as it's my second build ever), this is about as custom as you're going to find for a PC build; as I've had to measure and cut holes in places that I didn't realize needed to happen, so the build is still evolving as I'm fitting everything together to make sure everything fits perfectly. Just to let you know the magnitude of how involving this is, I wanted to include a pic of how I have everything spread out right now (and believe or not everything that you see does have its place so I know exactly where everything is). When all of this is done the room will be completely clean and everything that's on the floor and on the table will pretty much be inside this machine; with the exception of the bike, flower stand & cabinet. Who knows, I might be able to fit the bike inside if there's room.

Enjoy the mess - LOL !!!  I'm sure that enough guys that have seen this pic know what I'm talking about that have tackled this kind of project themselves...

YES!  Gotta love the "Lab Area".  I can honestly say that yours is more organized than mine.  I keep misplacing stuff...
The TJ11 looks like a great case for modding, so much room to work with.  Great job with this build.

"Democracy is not freedom. Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to eat for lunch. Freedom comes from the recognition of certain rights which may not be taken, not even by a 99% vote. Those rights are spelled out in the Bill of Rights and in our Constitution. Voters and politicians alike would do well to take a look at the rights we each hold, which must never be chipped away by the whim of the majority."

Wow very nice and comprehensive rig there!  Surprised the SR-2 fits in that case but it's nice that it looks like it worked out very well for you!

THis is a beautiful sight PunkNugget!

I also left you a +1 on your Mods Rigs page

Since you only have one GTX 480 SC in this setup, is it that you do apps that are very CPU and system ram dependent?

Yes, that is the reason why I use the 480. I now have a 580, but I have some issues and have tried the Enabler that was specifically made from one of the guys at TonyMacX86.com for the 580 GPU. It now works, but I don't think it works at it's full capacity. I might switch it out to render test it again to see if the 480 for Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 works better. As soon as Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8 comes out then it will be completely enabled for the 580 and I think the 680. But I need a 3GB card to work 2 monitors at max pixels. Just using 1.5 with the 480 doesn't quite cut it.

BTW, thanks for the vote... Now I only have 194 score points to go. LOL !!! Maybe 10 years from now I may be able to buy something from EVGA with my "award" money. By that time a Molex cable will probably be $1,000 the way our dollar is going... Thanks again for the vote...

Yeah no worries man, always loved 2CPU based setups, also thanks for your vote on mine

I run Windows 7 Pro x64 UK + SP1 on mine, for Flight Sim X Deluxe Edition + SP2 & Rex 2.1 HD it's the perfect setup for my needs, although I too plan on getting a pair of EVGA GTX 5803GB's , 3GB VRAM is never a bad thing when doing flight sims that love to eat VRAM, I run @ 1920 x 1200 x32 and when adding tons of FSAA that also tends to eat away VRAM like crazy, CPU wise all my 12 CPU cores are also used to their greatest potential

For HD Video compiling encoding and converting to HD DivX 2CPU setups also have their advantages. So not even if gaming is your thing, Simulations like other SMP based apps such setups are never a bad thing.

I am still waiting for the 2x 8GB DDR2-800 ECC Reg ram setups to lower in price then get four of those packs to upgrade to 64GB PC-6400 ECC Reg to max out my ram also sweet for a ram disk

The IPMI 2.0 card is also handy, it allows you to hard ware monitor your system from anywhere you are in the world, it's also why I went for a Supermicro motherboard and as an Opteron freak, the Supermicro H8DAE-2 was by best choice, it has Native SLI support too
More about my Mobo type you can read here:

More about my build here mate :

Anyways I hope to see more from your end too man

Thanks and I appreciate your honesty. Like I said before, I've been using Mac Pros for 15+ years (ever since Quarda 605) and I really like that I can have a something to be proud of using. I've also had the best rendering scores as a result of now knowing how to Underclock (which is something that I never thought I could do). Actually using Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 works ever better. So for that I'm grateful...
