So I upgraded from my i7 3770K to Dual X5550 3.0GHz and 192GB ECC RAM for around 400 dollars including the motherboard.

Around Black Friday, I will put PCIe M.2 x4 SSD there because I have plenty of PCIe x8 slots and PCIe x4.

Hey great to see you here too bud, it's me Gold Leader from 2CPU.com, somehow 2CPU.com is down btw, did you notice as well?
I was gonna check if Peter Tong made any progress with his Quad OpteronMP 6180 SE build xDDD

Nice mobo there, Supermicro just rocks right! Was it because of the system ram limitation of 192GB which Windows 7 Pro x64 has that you went for 192GB?
If using this setup purely for a server purposes, hmm I'd go Linux Red Hat or Windows Server 2008 over anything conventional, yet dunno why you need 192GB in a server, unless you got it for a very good deal from someone, then I would understand it, just fill it up and be gone with it
    It does look rad though

As for 2CPU rigs, that is normal for us 2CPU people

thanks, actually I picked them up for free because my uncle was having overstock of ECC RAM that nobody used so I got them for free (my uncle does a computer retail shop so xeons are available pretty cheap)

This is a 4K-ready workstation, (I don't have 4K monitors yet, but near future I will) so I got the most current GPU, because it needs to support 4K and also VR.
