It is getting rather frustrating :(, my eVGA GFX superclocked ACX, died again. Well I should rather say my RMA replacement died again and it lasted about 2 months. I'm considering changing to something else, that is hopefully more reliable, as I've never had this many issues with my PCs in the 25 years I've been building them. I pride my self with only buying quality components when I build my PCs and I thought eVGA was actually considered quality? Or am I mistaken? Could be that I'm very unlucky, but a RMA card that dies this fast, the exact same way the original did, does make me question quality.

All temps look great I max at 70 Celsius when playing Elder Scrolls Online at 4k, but it's getting rather frustrating, to be without a graphics card for 2 weeks, after just 2 months of use.

Hello and welcome to the forums!

It's rather strange to have two cards fail in the exact same way so close apart. Usually when I see this happen it's caused by a faulty power supply. I'd highly recommend replacing your power supply before installing another video card in your system, or else I fear you may experience another video card failure a couple months down the line.

I've already ticketed your account, give us a call at 888-881-3842 or email support@evga.com and we can assist you with an RMA along with the shipping, and get you out the replacement first. If your power supply is an EVGA unit, go ahead and register it and we'll get that RMA'd as well, otherwise I'd suggest having it replaced with the manufacturer if it's still under warranty.

    Hey there,

Thanks for the quick reply. I was actually thinking the exact same, which is why I already replaced my PSU, did that when the first eVGA card failed. Got a completely new AX860 power supply, sent to me by Corsair, so not a refurb, for free which I thought was great service, particularly since changing PSU did not solve my problem. When I got my RMA back from eVGA my PC worked fine again, which means they could just have told me it wasn't their PSU and told me to return the new one and send the old one back to me, but they didn't.

I'll try to call, would be great if I could have a new card shipped right away.

    Cheers,

Also noting, I used the old eVGA GFX card for almost a year with no issues, but as soon as I got my 4k screen and started gaming at 4k, it lasted for about 2 months before it died, very similar to the time it took for the RMA to die.

I have a define R4 case from Fractal design with the 2 large case fans running at max speed at all times, so the interior of my case, never get very hot, this case actually seems excellent at heat management, while being low noise.

    Cheers,

How did your 780 die? Did it just stop working? Did the fans stop working?

    Hey there :),

PC basically shut down mid gaming session and I couldn't turn it on again, when I managed to get it running on the internal  MOBO gfx card, the fans would run on the 780TI, but no image if I plugged it into a monitor. Right now I'm running on the internal gfx card, which is a tad slow, so not using my PC until I receive the RMA from eVGA. Considering having a 960 backup card or something, in case this happens again.

Was thinking about upgrading, but there really isn't anything to upgrade to until pascal comes out, 980 and titan X is faster than 780TI, but not nearly enough to warrant the price tag.

    Cheers,

The PC just shuttind down is normally a psu issue, before putting in a new gpu, I would suggest replacing the PSU. What PSU do you have now? Hopefully your psu is not killing the gpus on you and a new psu swap out will do the trick. I would suggest getting a gold/plat/titanium efficiency psu as well.  Be careful keeping your system on now, because if it is the psu and I am betting it is, it can take out the rest of your hardware with it.

    Hey there,

As mentioned in my first reply, I already replaced PSU after the first eVGA card died, which didn't resolve the issue so RMA'ed the eVGA card and that worked. I have an Corsair AX 860, which is 80 Plus platinum certified, which I actually replaced with a completely new one for free when I contacted corsair about my issues. I doubt it's the PSU at this point, rails deliver stable power on the 12vs under load, so see no issues there. I also got a new surge control installed, at the same time I installed the new PSU, just in case it's fluctuations from the power grid. So far the only thing that dies is the GFX card, everything else works fine and I can boot on the internal GFX and play (in low details) just fine.

Hope this is going to be the last time, otherwise I'll try to see if I can get a refund or it replace with a better card the upgrade cost.

    Cheers,

So update here, got my card before the weekend and everything is up and running so that's great :) Now I just installed eVGA precision X to monitor the card and I noticed its running at GPU clocks of 1137, this on default setting, haven't changed anything and never overclocked this card or my CPU or anything else for that matter. Is this normal? Screenshot below. Temps are around 70 c, so card is running cool.

1137 is fine. It is gpu boost 2.0 pushing the card further on its own. 3 of my cards boost to 1149 without touching anything. It is completely normal :-)

Its not as strange for these cards to die as you think...  I have had 3 780GTX SC's die.   I am to the point of absolute frustration with EVGA on the horrible quality of the cards I have been receiving.

Okay thanks for the info and sorry to hear 3 of your cards died :(. Hope this one will last, would like to wait until Pascal, before I upgrade.

I bought a 780ti SC with ACX a year ago and knock on wood have not had a single issue with mine!
I do have to say i dont care for precision X,i use afterburner with my 780ti and love it.
my card runs at 1150 and at under 70 degrees for most games.
there are a few games that are not optimized for PC that run at 72-73 degrees but i never have a issue.
