And gullible people will buy it, despite the fact that for the same amount of money you could get a bigger, better HDD.  Or buy an SSD and an enclosure for less money.

    Seagate!

They had to move into the console market because every legit PC gamer knows to stay away.

Not my fault if you're offended.

Ha! Yeah my friend in Australia almost convinced me to get a Seagate harddrive. I asked others and they said that "that's pretty much all they have over there".

I've owned Seagate for a long while without issues. Both WD and Seagate have had their fair share of issues. All HDD manufacturers have the chance of having problems. However, I would steer clear of Hitachi and Samsung HDDs.

I even took a risk with an ADATA SSD (normally well known for their flash media). Speaking to a rep, they said they sell a lot of them and they haven't had any returns. I opted for the 512 GB SU800. Works great for the cost.

I've owned several Seagate HDD's and haven't had many problems.  I've had failures, but the replacement process was fast and painless.

But I think why we're all poking at Seagate right now might be due to the fact that their reliability has kind of tanked over the last several years.  While I know you can't totally read or believe all the reviews out there, it does kind of say something when the majority of the reviews are only putting the product at 50 to 75%.  Now their making a bid/push to reinvent/reinvigorate their image again.

And Seagate purchased the Samsung HDD division in 2011.  Which is about the time they relabled, rebranded and saw reliability start dropping.  Coincidence?
