Ok so I've been having a minor problem.

I got a new graphics card that supports 4k.

I have it running through a very short (3ft) and high quality cable.

However if I ever turn on the tv when there's a 4k video signal already coming through my PC the tv can't detect the signal and I get that floating icon saying that the tv can't find a signal.

However if I unplug the hdmi cable and and plug it back it I get the signal back. I can also turn off/put my pc to sleep and wake it back up or turn it back on I also get the signal back.

Is there a way to fix this. Unplugging the hdmi cable and plugging it back in is going to eventually break my hdmi port. putting my computer to sleep and waking it back up is kind of annoying.

I also have tried all kinds of cables but I have the same problem with all of them.

any help would be great.

Sorry that hear your having issues with your Samsung UHD TV  i currently have the same one so maybe i can help you . Have you tryed updating the tv firmware. Make sure that you have uhd color turned on . And if that fails do a reset on your tv to clear all setting on it. Also go to your NV control panel and then go to change resolution and make sure that your running it @60 hertz. Do t use the windows version to change the resolution it may output the wrong hertz and cause your screen to go black.

Yeah, unfortunately for me I do have the latest firmware and UHD color on. The HDMI port is set to PC. I'll try to do a reset this weekend if I all else does fail.

I've had a similar issue when running my PC to my Surround Sound then into my TV. In my case there's a setting on my receiver that lets you choose TV/AMP or just the Amp. Setting it to just the amp seems to have fixed the problem. I'd look around in the settings for anything that may change the input type.

Changed it to game mode and still no luck. It's such a pain as it's nearly impossible to tell if it's the tv or card.

I don't have it running through anything. from my pc straight to the tv. I run a toslink from the tv to a stereo so I don't have to constantly futz with changing sources between gaming systems.

yes it is running at 60 hertz. Confirmed by PC and TV. If I have it set to 30 hertz this problem doesn't exist.

Then it might be the cable. Are you using a 18Gbps cat 2 HDMI cable? Which exact GPU do you have and what driver version are you using?

yes, I had the cable unplugged when I turned uhd color. I even redid it once thinking that it might fix the problem to no avail.

It's a cat 2 cable. There is currently no difference between 1.4 and 2.0 cable design.

I'm using the egva gtx 970 ce.

EDIT: I'm using the lastest drivers but this problem has persisted through all the drivers I've used.

Found an article were somebody has the same problem. A temp fix is to select a different hdmi port and back. This work but you can only select a different source if there's a signal going to it so I have to turn my ps4 on in order to do it. Still better than a reboot or unplugging the cable.

I'd still try another HDMI cable. One that states it is rated for 18Gbps. Vizio makes them for example, and you can get them at Walmart. The reviews for the cable you have shows at least one person having a similar issue to yours.
