I recently completed my computer build a couple of weeks before Windows 10 came out.  I'm still running Windows 8.1 and I heard there was issues with SLI not running correct on Windows 10.  Does anyone know if this is still the case?  Any tips before I make the upgrade plunge?

The Windows 10 SLI issued was solved quite some time ago with a hotfix that is now incorporated in the latest Windows 10 NVIDIA driver downloaded from the NVIDIA website.

It's safe on the GPU side, but cyber security and privacy safe, not at all.

I concur - agreeing to the installation of Windows 10 opens up your computer to Microsoft: Keylogging everything you type, reading and saving any emails, and reading and saving any files that you have (all under the guise of helping you out). There are ways to mitigate this, but it requires not just changing settings in Windows 10 but using a hardware (such as a router) firewall to block the things that Microsoft hard coded into the OS that cannot be disabled by the user.

EDIT: I use "Destroy Windows 10 Spying" - http://www.ghacks.net/2015/08/14/comparison-of-windows-10-privacy-tools/ which also works for Windows 7 and 8/8.1 since Microsoft backported the spying poop via Windows update.

EDIT 2: For those who doubt, here is an excerpt directly from Microsoft's Windows 10 EULA - "Finally, we will access, disclose and preserve personal data, including your content (such as the content of your emails, other private communications or files in private folders), when we have a good faith belief that doing so is necessary to: 1.comply with applicable law or respond to valid legal process, including from law enforcement or other government agencies; 2.protect our customers, for example to prevent spam or attempts to defraud users of the services, or to help prevent the loss of life or serious injury of anyone; 3.operate and maintain the security of our services, including to prevent or stop an attack on our computer systems or networks; or 4.protect the rights or property of Microsoft, including enforcing the terms governing the use of the services – however, if we receive information indicating that someone is using our services to traffic in stolen intellectual or physical property of Microsoft, we will not inspect a customer’s private content ourselves, but we may refer the matter to law enforcement."

The law being entities such as the NSA (wiretapping, data mining, and tracking laws). Big brother at its worst (they'd say finest).

Microsoft also loves to install your drivers for you and doesn't like when you try to install other drivers.

But the cyber security issue I was talking about was if you install Windows 10 using a Microsoft account, anyone can access your computer remotely using your Microsoft account. There is absolutely nothing you can do to prevent this if you do install Windows 10 with a Microsoft account. However, all you have to do to prevent this is to install Windows 10 using an administrative account and not a Microsoft account. Windows 10 will take you through a series of questions, each one criticizing your decision to not use a Microsoft account. If you make through the shaming of the questions you can install Windows 10 without a Microsoft account and avoid the issue. If you don't then everything about your computer can be accessed using your Microsoft login. Basically who ever hacks you knows your email and can probably guess your password or may be able to get it through a security breach of another corporation. From there they can remote access your computer and do whatever they want.

I feel like that's a security flaw. ButI guess if you don't Install 10 using a Microsoft account then you're all fine.

If you on Win 7 I would stick with it. Apart from few tweaks and extra features that are implemented on Win 10 that some might not even use I think Win 7 its still better choice for many reasons.

Thanks everyone for the replies.  I didn't realize that MS can look at *everything* on your computer through Win 10.  I thought the next version of Direct X was a windows 10 exclusive.  Is it even worth the upgrade for better graphics?

I agree... hold off.  I attempted the win8.1 to win10 conversion a month or so ago.  After several attempts, I could never get win10 to recognize my 980SC's.  Could only use 640x480 resolution.  Gimme a break.

Anyway...  Like I always say.  Nothing can screw up Windows quite like a Windows update.

I've been on 10 since the start and I've had zero issues. As far as security issues...what exactly? Windows 10 uses basically the same kernel as 8.1 so its not like their vastly different.  As far as privacy you can pretty much edit and turn off most if not all of the privacy settings yourself and as others noted there are 3rd party apps as well.

The only real issue that was had was with the nvidia drivers at the start of the release.

I hope everyone in here wears huge tin foil hats to go along with the win 10 shaming, because if you thought you already weren't being monitored by your internet provider/gov't agencies/basically anyone that wants to,  then i have some awesome beach front properties in Nevada to sell you. :)

At this point, why do you even bother using a computer, because it doesn't matter. If you have a internet connection,  you are being monitored full stop.

The Microsoft account issue is pretty big. It can allow anyone with with your email and password to remote access your computer. That's kind of an issue in today's world.

This is just out of pure curiosity, what is the reason for whomever upgraded to Win 10
    Because its free?
    Better OS?
    Other reason?

    If anyone has your email and password you're in bigger trouble than them getting remote access to your PC. If I have your email account I can then get into your bank account and anything else I want to.  Google Scans your emails to target you with advertising yet nobody seems to care about that. Grocery stores rewards programs track your purchases to target you with coupons. Target for example;

Android has plenty of security holes as well..common sense and using two-factor authentication and secure passwords is usually enough to deter most issues.

Beachfront property in Nevada? Thanks, but I already have some! I got it on eBay.

LOL! Yea the privacy thing is so old now.. I was going to dual boot W10 but they require me to update W7 to authenticate my key apparently and then I have to roll back. I'm worried the roll back will screw my games up though so I'm holding off.

I've updated to W10 and rolled back to W8.1 twice in two days (I've been troubleshooting why DX8 games, such as Max Payne 1 and 2, don't work in W10) and I haven't had any issue with my games or savegames being deleted. I have Steam installed on my RAID array and a bunch of other games installed on my boot SSD - probably can't get much more complex than that with regards to messing (or not) things up with a Windows upgrade then rollback.
