Hello everyone, hope you all are enjoying your nice new 1080s. Im building a new setup. I already have a 1080 FE card I managed to find in stock the first week of June. Was not aware of the setup program for my at then 980ti. Im receiving the ACX model hopefully the end of next week. Is it possible to run a SLI setup with a FE and ACX cards and what HB bridge should I get, the Nvidia version or EVGAs version. I know the EVGA design is simple unlike Nvidias angular design. Not sure if the nvidia one will interfere with the ACX custom cooler. Im thinking of having the ACX as the "top" card since it vents warm air into the case, and of course heat rises. So is this SLI setup possible and able to work. Would like some input from you guys on this idea. Thanks for the help! -Derrick

If you intend to put water blocks on these at some point you should know that the NVidia HB bridges aren't compatible with the EK blocks because of some plastic that sticks out too far to the side. EVGA has said theirs won't have this issue, you just gotta find them in stock.

I would use a hobby saw and not snips (could crack the PCB)

Dremel works very well if you have one available. Modified many a computer component with one of those.
What use is knowledge if there is no understanding?~Stobaeus

Generally speaking it is better to have the ACX style on the bottom. With it on the top the Airflow is somewhat restricted by the lower GPU raising the temps of the ACX card. In either case, good air flow is essential.
