I think the lunatics installer makes a good difference . It supports all the newer CUDA and x86 features which makes the crunching much more efficient. Running AVX instead of early SSE code. You can check out their forums for more details. They can even put your integrated Intel GPU to work , although my system can get a bit wonky with the iGPU enabled.

robbysites I feel bad - I have not crunched at all for this challenge. And I am the big cheerleader/cruncher. Question - Is anyone running an app_config mod on this? If so what are your settings. I will set this up to run this evening - I have a mod to increase the number of concurrent WUs. I will share once I have it dialed in.
No worries, we're always glad to have you on board robby! I had completely forgotten about the SETI optimized apps until ipkha mentioned them. So I've installed Lunatics optimized apps and have not modified them afterward. My 970 (core @1266MHz) runs one v8 (cuda50) task at a time with a turnaround of roughly 630 seconds. Not sure if I can do better by running more tasks concurrently - haven't tried yet.
Thanks Planetclown!! Update- I downloaded the executable from the link I posted yesterday and initially I was thinking " this stinks, not working" but then I read where there were no GPU WUs - so I left everything in a ready mode. *If you use it - make certain you pick the right card architecture. ie I have 4 Maxwells and 2 Keplers. Well this morning everything is running fine and I will be climbing the list trying to catch you guys. Right now 4 GPUs and 3 CPUs but once I finish my 4 day PG project I will flip all gear on to SETI and see how much I can get in production. Tall hill to climb. Really glad to see you guys participating and posting numbers. The lunatics Mod appears to do some good how much I do not know. I decided not to fiddle with the app_config. Is there a link to see us in the competition other than my personal seti login? Cheers!

Bcavnaugh, I used the executable on my 2 9xx boxes and I have one now running 2 780tis that I used your app_config. I created a notepad file and went to projects/seti and saved it there as app_config.xml . It is running just fine with both cards crunching @ approximately 6.5 minutes per WU. So with 3 I7s and 6 GPUs I should start playing some catch up. Thanks for the link. Looks like I am the only Taurus in the bunch! I have my cpu settings to 100% on the boinc manager. Is this the best setting? I overclocked the cpu (6700) to 3.9gHz and it has a behemoth Noctua twin fan twin radiator 8 heat pipe cooler mounted to it. rs

That's what I have and everything is crunching full-bore. So I think this is as good as it gets, unless it can be set > 100%

A Message from WOW! I did reply and thank them. Hi bcavnaugh, nice to see you and your team back on Wow! And sorry for my late answer and my bad english (that's why I cannot answer immediately. I need to think about every translatetd sentecne. ;-) ) Yes, bunkering is explicitely allowed (see third last sentence on https://www.seti-germany.de/Wow/44_en_Welcome.html). I had read the discussion about bunkering in your EVGA forum the last both years (hmm.. I was to lazy to register there and give the answer directly than). And I don't want to have a discussion about what kind of doings are allowed / allowable bunkering and what is cheating, the border between both is fluid. So I only want to explain short why we made the decision to allow that. (Did we have a choice? I think no.) There are to types of challenges. One is organized by the project itselfs like primegrid challenge. So the organizers have fully access to all user data (which wu was send out when and is validated when...). So they can made a rule like "counting only wu which is send out while challenge is running". On the other side there are different challenges organized by teams like SG (Penta, Wow!, WCG birthday) or also typical boincstats challenges and so on. For these challenges only data from official project stats exports can be used (the daily exports or, in our case, the personal user.xml's will be used.) In example for you it is https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/show_user.php?userid=10023376&format=xml. We have only these information to build our stats. Yes, we are Germans. And the whole world knows (or think to know) we are perfect in establishing rules. Yes we can but making rules without ability to check compliance with the rules is like playing Hare and Hedgehog. And please don't say - "ask Berkeley to give you support for this event and stats". Hahahaha, we are happy every year, if they don't decide to make a unscheduled maintenance while Wow! is running. In 2012 Mr. Anderson promote our event and at the same moment we got the information, that with beginning of Wow! a 2-day-maintenance will happen. First event, first two days with no stats - I thought the first would be the last event. So we made the decision that Wow! is a funny event (yes, the differences between the crunchers are to high to build equally strong groups or so) for those users which had began there boinc life with this project and forgot it later. In our forum there are many "old" users crunching s@h only for these 14 days. And for all competition oriented crunchers we offer some additional stats. So both user types can be happy. We hope it is clear now our organizing team (only 4 persons) is not able to do something again cheating by bunkering. And we hope also you and your team mates will have some fun on this event and hopefully also in the next years. Best regards shka

I may have already said this earlier but I am getting work units that are completing from intel_gpu so I am pretty amazed at that. Not sure if it really adds that much to the equation, but it certainly does not hurt. If we can get this team of nine to add one more cruncher to come in and help, like a closer in a baseball game, then it looks like we could hit that mark. I am all in full tilt until it is over. Whether or not we hit 16, this group of nine is putting up a good fight!

Just realized that my 970 has not been completing any tasks on my H8QME!! What a waste. I suck with linux and cannot figure it out. One task will get to 46% and then change to "waiting to run". The next task will get to the same point, then reset to 0%. Other projects run on the 970 with no issues.

I tried running my newest cruncher on linux and it went ok, but in the end I am running windows 7 64bit. I have linux on a separate SSD and can boot from it - when I want to fold, but I too just got frustrated with it for crunching. rs

I usually stumble through and work it out. Have been crunching and folding with linux for awhile now. Every once in a while something comes up I can't figure out. I plan to get rid of my server board and setup the Z170 classified 4 way I won (thanks EVGA) and load it up with my spare GPU's. Then I can go back to windows only! EDIT: Looks like CUDA tasks are completing but opencl tasks are the ones getting stuck. Can I limit to CUDA only for Seti v8?
