Has anyone had any success with this drive. I purchased it from newegg and will be arriving in two days and I made this decision due to the drive being on the compatibility list on OCZ website. After many post on the OCZ forum I have yet to find anyone who has made this drive work on a SR-2 build. If anyone has this drive working, please provide some insight on how it was accomplished. Thank you!!

The drive works with the right BIOS settings, it's just not bootable. The drive works fine if you "Load Optimized Defaults". (BIOS-A54) If you disable too many option ROMs then the SR-2 will hang on boot with error code 0085.

Pretty much The RevoDrive 3 X2 has to run it's option ROM initialization in order to be bootable, but if you let it (either by disabling the SATA controllers or simply unplugging your other drives) the system won't boot (code 85), and you can't enter the BIOS or use the boot selection menu. Thanks for the responses so is this something that has to be fixed on OCZ side or EVGA'S? I don't see the point of owning this drive if you cant boot from it. I will be sending this back to newegg.

I tried on the a56 bios with both a revo drive 3 and a revo drive 3 x2 gives issue 0085 and does not boot, though it works perfectly on my asrock board.

i can bet you 10000% evga have not obtained a revodrive for testing or anything, marvell have not even released any new firmware for ssd problems its making me extremely angry so im stuck because i really wanted a revodrive since the marvel port is so slow, and raid cards seem to be a lucky dip regarding if it works or not, totaly rediculous.

I got this today from newegg, is anyone able to confirm this? I highly doubt it is accurate. Dear Arlan, Thank you for contacting Newegg. Thank you for contacting . My name is Jaime and I am contacting you on behalf of the Agent Support Desk with Newegg.com. I show that you contacted us September 20th 2011 regarding order number [SO #.....]. As promised by our Customer Service Agent, a follow up case was filed so that we could have this situation looked into. Upon resolution it was advised, per our vendor SR2 is currently working with our RevoDrive3. They have issued a new BIOS and driver which fixes this issue. These aer currently available on for download via the Toolbox. If you have any further questions or concerns, please visit our FAQs page. If you still require any assistance, please feel free to reply directly to this email.

Well, only one way to find out. I'm going to load up the latest OCZ firmware and give it a go. I'll post back with results shortly. UPDATE: Holy Crap. I just booted the OCZ BIOS and no 0085!!! Now let's see if this bad boy is bootable! I'm going to give installing Windows 7 a go. More to come. UPDATE2: I'm so excited I can barely type. Proof is in the pictures: Yes! My Revodrive 3 X2 240GB now functions properly as a Windows boot drive on the EVGA SR-2! I imagine it will take some time for this new BIOS/Firmware combo to make it through the supply channel, so you will need to first deny the drive option-ROM space (if using an SR-2 for the update), update it, then start working with it. So if you already have a working Windows install, then: 1. Load Optimized defaults in the SR-2 BIOS, power down, physically install the Revo. 2. Install the lastest drivers within your working Windows install. http://www.ocztechnology.com/drivers/RevoDrive_3_and_RevoDrive_3_X2_/ 3. Grab the latest OCZ toolbox. http://www.ocztechnology.com/ssd_tools/OCZ_Vertex_3,_Vertex_3_Max_IOPS,_Agility_3,_Solid_3,_RevoDrive_3_and_RevoDrive_3_X2/ 4. Update ONLY the firmware using the OCZ Toolbox. Reboot. 5. Update the BIOS using the OCZ Toolbox. 6. Reboot, and go into the SR-2 BIOS and disable some option ROMs to free space. (SATA3 Controller is an easy one). Make sure you can see the OCZ BIOS load. 7. Enter the BIOS again an select "REVODRIVE X" as the boot drive. Edit: If you don't have a working Windows install then follow the instruction's here: http://www.ocztechnologyforum.com/forum/showthread.php?89670-Tools-for-OCZ-SandForce-Driven-SSD-s to make a bootable linux USB drive that can update the BIOS and firmware. The process of enabling/disabling option ROMs are the same. Props to OCZ to making this a reality. Finally--a fast solid-state solution beyond the (mediocre) Marvel SATA3 controller for the SR-2. Apparently, this does not work. You have to update within a working Windows install.

Is that result reproducible? Your ATTO output looks just like all the published online Revo 3 X2 benchmarks up to 32 KB transfer size, at which you experienced some kind of glitch and then the drive recovers, but not fully. What kind of overall transfer speed does Windows Explorer report when you copy a large file from the Revo 3 X2 to some other location on the same drive? I'd be more worried about that, than any artificial benchmarks.

I tried the card in 5,6,7--all give the same miserable results. I even jumpered off my second 590--same thing. jabloomf1230

Yes, that ATTO is very reproducible. Every single time I run ATTO it backs off at 32kb. A major problem that I'm noticing is that no matter what kind of card config I use, I can't get the drive to report the correct PCIe bandwidth; which apparently is 5.2Gb/s. All I can get from the drive is 2.5Gb/s--OCZ claims that under this condition, the drive isn't getting the necessary bandwidth. My first impression that it's the card itself that's at fault; especially when I give it its own NF200. I paste-binned some "real-world" results using copymark: http://pastebin.com/Vu1GJrGZ Copy into a text editor and save as CSV then open in Excel to save your eyes. Each test would suggest that the drive is getting x1 (!) PCIe bandwidth. I'm not giving up yet. I want this damn thing to work as advertised! Especially when I see this: http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1260663 Like I said, something isn't right.

Removed. Prior information no longer regarded as accurate. Per: http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1336334 The only Revodrive 3 that works at the advertised speed with the SR-2 is the non-X2 variant.

Hello guys congrats for getting the card working tpb7463! I am due to get this card today! Just wondering... I have a very low spec graphics card, a raid controller and very soon I hope.. this revodrive... my question is should i be plugging in the 6 pin power supply (required for multi gpu) to power my PCI set up or is it not necessary? Let me know! Matt EDIT: also what do you mean by this: "disable some option ROMs to free space" where is this in the BIOS?

liltbrockie should i be plugging in the 6 pin power supply (required for multi gpu) to power my PCI set up or is it not necessary? The lone PCIe power connector is only required if you install anything in the lower 4 slots. If you look carefully on the board, the silk screen print right next to the connector it reads: "PCIe Slot 4-7 of Power". liltbrockie what do you mean by this: "disable some option ROMs to free space" where is this in the BIOS? An Option ROM, in short, is firmware that is invoked by the BIOS to provide specific functionality while the system is not fully loaded into an operating system. Some examples on the SR-2 include: the Marvell SATA3 controller, the JMicron SATA to IDE bridge, ACHI, etc. When I say "disable some option ROMs" I mean disable any combination of "features" on the SR-2 to a point where you can verify the OCZ optionROM has loaded correctly. By the same train of thought, "Load Optimized Defaults" turns on nearly ALL of the aforementioned ROMs, ensuring that the OCZ BIOS never loads (until you perform the update, this is a desirable condition). If you're really curious, there's always : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Option_ROM I pick on the Marvell SATA3 controller a lot because under every circumstance that I've tried, disabling that component alone will let the OCZ BIOS load. If I recall correctly, disabling the JMicron controller worked to the same effect. Getting the right combination isn't an exact science; it's trial and error. Hope that clears things up for you (and anyone else bewildered by methods). In addition, if anyone decides on purchasing a Revodrive 3 (X2), make sure that you see: "PCI Bandwidth Utilization of 5.2Gb/s" when the OCZ BIOS loads. It's the easiest way to tell if the slot the card is installed in will adequately supply the necessary bandwidth. And to reiterate, the only slot this card appears to work correctly in is slot1. EDIT: Naturally, if you find another slot the card works in, please post your slot config
