It may surprise readers of this blog to know that some advertiser groups believe blocking ads is illegal. They are upset that adblockers impede their multi-billion dollar business (or in this case, euros) of shoveling ads at you whether or not you like it or asked for it. In fact, a group of publishers in Hamburg, Germany was so upset that they actually took Adblock Plus to court.

Today, after a four-month trial, reasonable heads prevailed as the regional court in Hamburg ruled in our favor by declaring that ad blocking is, in fact, perfectly legal. I know, it’s restating the obvious. But it cost us lots of blood, sweat and tears nonetheless.

Yep...  the ads are out of control...  on everything!!!  I remember just a few short years ago, you could watch a YouTube video without having to watch a commercial prior to watching the video.  Now...  forget about it.  I try not to buy anything, or even do business with companies that impose their ads. Not to hard since most of the ads are useless.

Edit:  I manage a business, and with regards to marketing, I have found that it has become very convoluted.  There are so many ads, and so many different ways to advertise these days, that I find the results of marketing campaigns are pretty lackluster. Everyone is so over it, that most folks just flat out ignore ads these days.  I almost feel like it can bite you in the pooper if you aren't careful.

I've been using ublock for several weeks without issue.  It's more effecient/lean as well as more effective than adblockplus as it doesn't collaborate with advertisers.
Ublock is available for firefox, safari, and chrome/chromium.

I've been using adblock for years, almost as long as I've been using FireFox. I think I've been using FireFox since the TheScreenSavers days

I agree 100% with EU courts. We have the right to decide what gets shown on our screens and the right to keep our system secure.Way too many times have ads on websites infected people systems with malware.

Look at how clean evga home page looks when i use adblock and use the option to manually block any image on a webpage/forums that i want.
