That makes sense but here's the rub....
If he has a 980 and tries to sell it, he'll get more money than if he tries to sell a 780ti Kingpin.
Sad but true...

This is the point really, I've been sent two 980s now and I was told I would receive one by a EVGA rep and it even states as such in the rma process and return parts section of the support page. So what I'm getting at is was this intentional or no and if not then where do I stand.

When you goodwill a customer due to warranty issues you don't goodwill them twice a better product which they have got used to using for nearly 7 months then downgrade them later on. If that was the case and they notified me of this then we would not be having this discussion as this would have been agreed or discussed with support beforehand.

What it looks like to me is the original card was a 780ti @ that time they didn't have any, when he shipped the other card back the 780ti kingpin edition was Instock so they shipped a compatible card to him. Which is equal to or better than what he sent in to them in the first place. Which was what the warranty covered. Just saying.

Oohh, I see what you mean now and yeah that makes more sense.
I think he should just have a chat with them tomorrow and see what's what..

Hello Allnamestaken,

this looks like a mixup and we have to apologise for that mistake and the trouble because of this!
I am afraid in this case we need to pick it up and exchange it again to the correct model. Would you be so kind and drop me an eamil to dungermann@evga.com with Allnamestaken in subject matter and a address where UPS can pick up the card then I will set this up right away for you.

That's not how the system works.

If you send in a defective GTX 780ti, evga send you out a GTX980 for warranty replacement, that GTX980 takes over your original card warranty.  If you need to request warranty service in the future, it will be based on the GTX980 card for any replacement being shipped out.

We all knew evga would continue to work with the customer on this.
