well im a poor girl that is disabled but had a famous brother who worked with NVidia directly. I used to have a p55 ftw 200 memorial build in his honor. but I have always been into cars before that. it has now been 4 years since he passed and im not sure if im dwelling on the past. what to replace my p55 since it shorted out 2 years ago. im currently writing this on a HP Pavilion g7 a-8 apu laptop connected to my 1080 tv. as mention I am poor and I can only afforded to do one thing for a few years. so with that said should I upgrade my laptop to max ram, bd burner, and wd black2 120gb ssd/1tb hdd combo? or should I build a dual sli rig on x99, with sit 6tb hdd storage so I can encode my videos I want? or lastly should I make my 2006 mazda mx5 miata a much faster and stealthy sleeper? I do know down in the end it comes down to what I think is best but curious what everyone opinion is. a informed decision comes from many points of views. Thanks in Advance, Alice

Unless you're talking about an LS Swap, I would leave well enough alone on a perfectly balanced car!

was thinking a supper charger or turbo. even found a new option that is a electric super charger. kind of a innovative idea.

Trust me when I say that those are a scam. A supercharger or turbo is much easier said than done especially when you are not looking into purchasing the cheapo ebay kits, you'll be spending close to $6-7k by the time everything is all said and done if you are not the one installing it and you'll see maybe an average increase of 50-75hp if there is nothing else done to the car. For that kind of power increase, I would probably avoid this option as another car with more horsepower can be acquired for that price :)

Your first mistake is trying to make a miata faster... Miatas are okay stock but don't try to soup up a miata. Electric superchargers do NOT work. When its all said and done a decent turbo/supercharger build is 7-8k with another 5-6k in the bank in case something brakes or a second car. Turboing or supercharging a car does not add reliability.

If you put 20k to LS swap a miata, it's no longer a miata. Sorry.

bill1024 Why not a 302 Windsor motor? Build a Monstermiata. http://monstermiata.webs.com/
The LS would probably be more easily available as just about every junkyard has a 5.3L or a 6.0L long block for about $600 lol

This is where my head was at as well... Personally Im not a car guy but I know that they can be money pits even without a ton of HUGE upgrades. I built my X79 when everything first came out like 3-4 years ago and it's STILL going strong and STILL making me happy. Haven't HAD to replace anything in it. Can't deny the longevity of a solid build.

Cars can be very expensive, once you have been bitten by the performance bug. Saying that ,PC's can be as well to a point. What do you feel would be a fitting memorial for your brother? If your leaning towards the automotive side, maybe a customized touch to the interior. Seat covers with either his initials or an insignia on the headrest or something along that line. You will figure it out. :)

As a memorial, I'd go the car route. It will be around a lot longer than a computer. MX5's are great sports cars. However, I'd leave the motor alone. They were never intended to be drag racers. They are light, rwd cars that make excellent track cars if done properly. Get the motor in tip top condition, maybe exhaust and intake for a few extra ponies and better throttle response, but other that that leave it alone. Put the money in suspension, brakes and chassis re-enforcement. Take her to the local road race course and have a blast. You'll have a lot more fun on a road course than just running a car in a straight line. The MX5 was almost built to do that from the factory. It just needs a little love and can be so much fun.
System Specs: Metal box with an X99 system, a bunch of EVGA parts, and some wires inside of it.
