EVGA might only have an agreement with Swiftech for the Classified specifically.  Haven't seen any other classified waterblocks from the others other than Swiftech.

You're right its not just reference the others also make.  Sorry for the misinformation.  I should know better. heh

Since no one at EVGA does not answer this question, I'm just gonna go off that they have an exclusive partnership with Swiftech for Classified blocks.  Which EVGA might presue a block on other WB makers from making blocks for the Classified cards... which sucks since everyone else is IMO miles ahead of Swiftech.

Don't hate. lol  Swiftech actually makes great products.  I highly doubt EVGA chose Swiftech cause they make horrible blocks.  Like I said there's a few companies that make great blocks and Swiftech imho as well as many more believe is one of them.  I'll admit they lack the bling that some others might have.

Edit: Have seen benchmark on temps as well. :P  Gotta find the links again.

Well we might need to ask nateman_doo to help make us some h20 blocks then.  If he can manufacture and sell blocks why would others be denied?

At one point yes, but these days everyone has upped their game.  AquaComputer makes active cooling backplates for the Titan with their WB, not only that the water channels on their blocks > Swiftech Komodo blocks (HydroCoppers).
Even EK has improved, and they did it twice for the Titan and released a improved water channel SE versions.

So while I wouldn't say they are horrible, they sure aren't up to snuff with the competition out there atm.

I had cheapskate design waterblocks for the 680 classies, but when it was time for production it was going to run me about 5.5k for 4 of them.

And don't make me pull out the comparison photo showing the insufferior quality of the hydrocoppers vs. any other 3rd party manufacturer.

In the most recent generation, I hear Swiftech has seriously upped their game from what I hear. They are now up there with the best in internal design.

Exactly.  I think some might be referring to the bad data from the 480 Hydro.  Times have changed and things have gotten better.

More like this.......

It all comes down to performance.

As for looks, most of us don't see the front side of the card.  I like the way the EVGA does it because they put a really nice backplate on it (Not sure who makes those) and a nice LED on the side.  The areas that really should count for looks than the front side you never see.

Re:Release date of GTX 780 Classified 2013/07/17 21:08:11 (permalink)
I have owned many waterblocks... At the end of the day the performance comes down to it's efficiency with long use at max thermal. Not which one is pretty or which one cost more than the other.

Frankly my favorite has been HK's... My EK's have let me down. My Koolance ones never achieve performance I want, Danger Dan quit engineering (And I think it is one of many reasons they are gone now) and Aqua used poor seals...

I am not a fan of Swiftech. I think they could add another $15 in real world cost of materials and produce a superior product. Instead they go happy medium and charge to much. However, at the end of the day. Every Hydro I have purchased from EVGA with Swiftech or Danger Den as the manufacturer has performed to my expectations... So who am I to complain?

When will the next batch hit? Any idea? I'm really trying to hold off on buying another 780 for SLI, but I'd like to get a Classified or 2 and replace my current reference Zotac...

**Pure guessing on my part here**

Maybe late Friday... Most likely next week with a reasonably higher qty available. Keep in mind, last time it took less than 2 minutes to sell out. Many users are hot to trot for these. You will want to keep an eye on this thread for the most up to date info...

Hexus has a review but the card seems to be lacking when compared against the eVGA 780 SC ACX, so definitely would not fair so well against the Classified ... they also feel it's priced too high.

What review are you reading, pharma? "Overclocked by pushing the power target slider to the right, the Asus DirectCU II OC produces the highest overclock of the four partner GTX 780s we've tested."

Yes, highest overclock is true of the cards they tested. But as we know these are all "lottery results".  There have been higher 780 SC Blower/ACX overclocks posted here in the benchmark thread.
Since this is a Classified thread, those overclocks are much less then the Classified overclocks already posted by some members.

Thanks for the review. Very interesting!

The EVGA ACX Superclocked also isn't a bad card. The only problem is that about the same amount of money will net you the ASUS card, a card which is superior in terms of cooling, noise and overclocking potential. EVGA will have to drop its prices to MSI levels to keep its card interesting.

That's funny.

It seems if the cards are not cherry picked for reviews, like in this case, the card is not only pretty mediocre, but apparently a real hot head as well. The exact same experience I had before buying two new EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX cards. Oh well, the new cards do run better and still waiting for the two Classifieds to arrive or two MSI Lightning's whichever brand delivers the cards first (and sell of both ACX for some profit!).

This might be a stupid question but here it goes.

I purchased the card this week along with the backplate and a evbot device. I don't have a multimeter .... Lets say I want to read the voltages applied with the software tool floating around here would the evbot would be able to read them or do I need to purchase a separate multimeter ??

Thanks

You need a multimeter. The EVBot only gives read out of your current settings. So to be assured the right amount of voltage is being applied, you have to read it with a multi/volt meter.

Might not be that reliable but you can use gpu-z and the sensors tab shows you the voltagae among other things as well.

Ok so staying on this subject, what are realistic cons with just using an evbot, no volt meter?  I'm not talking worst case, just common occurrences...
