I know right! I mean how dare they offer choices. Like when I go to order a burger. I want cheese, why do I have to not only tell them, I have to pay for it as well!! Darn marketers... THey should be Fired! *Calls Donald*

Seems you live in in a different world / country, because in my country the cheese is always included on the burger (and it's already included in the price) and we don't have to pay seperate for the cheese.

Very strange country you live in.

I will elaborate my answer a bit more; at first, almost in every post, there were answers like "No, there will be no backplate", "There will be no backplate, because it's incompatible", "Sorry, no backplate for the Classified", etc. etc. etc.

Sure we understood, however now that production is over it's suddenly possible. And you can order (and pay extra) for the "impossible" backplate. Now that is strange. Especially considering with the GTX 770-series you get a free backplate, however that remains to be seen, as people are complaining that their (free) backplate has not been shipped yet or they haven't received it all (after waiting for 3 weeks or so).

And if you want to compare hamburgers with Classifieds (and videocards) be my guest. You only make a fool out of yourself.

Anyways, I think EVGA should include the backplate for free for their Classifieds and whoever wants it. If you can make it for free for the GTX 770 series, than you should also make it available for free for their top-range products imho.

I still find it weird that first was being said that there would be no backplates at all and now *suddenly* (not like the design changed within a day) they are available at a price. That's why I said it's pure marketing to get some extra cash out their Classifieds.

I am looking forward to see if MSI will include a backplate with their their toprange Lightning cards.

Next week? On EVGA's website probably.
Probably 1 or 2 months that the cards will be available through your resellers, right? Same delay as with your resellers.

Oh well, 7th of August the MSI Lightning will also be released. Let's see which one hits the European webshops earlier (that brand is getting my money).

While the comparison is quite entertaining, many people feel that a backplate, among other "premium" benefits should be simply included in the purchase of a premium card. I'm not one of those crazy backplate lovers, but you know there are alot of people obsessed with their backplates... and those who are seem to overwhelmingly believe it should be included in the purchase of a classified tier card.

Exactly Andew_K, however it seems the moderators on this forum cannot be taken serious anymore, because they ridicule customers.
Classified should have the backplate included for free at it's premium price. And the backplate was released several days after the release date of the Classified. So that means the backplates were already produced in the first place and they know if would fit with the cards anyways. Management thought it would be a good idea to tell them first the backplates wouldn't fit at all and that there would be no backplates for the Classified's at all.

And, of course, days after the release of the Classified, backplates come available *at a price* of course. And if you make a remark about this way of doing business you get ridiculed by someone who calls himself a moderator for EVGA. Oh well. The moderator in question only ridicules himself by comparing videocards with hamburgers. Simple minded apparently.

You can't be taken seriously either, since you're just going to return your Classified/Lightning if they can't hit 1400Mhz core

I'm amazed people are ordering without even knowing what they're getting here... we still have no official word on greater-than-reference voltage adjustment (which alongside a beefed-up power phase setup is the selling point of the card) without using the evbot.

You guys are being silly.  You can't tell a company what to do and how to run.  If you don't like the fact the plate is not free than don't buy it and buy something else.  Simple as that.  There's reason within the company why they do certain things and to make a buck.  Its capitalism.  If you don't like it socialism isn't far off another coast.

As for OCing it only counts as the guaranteed base line speed.  Anything after is just luck.  So in that case GOOD LUCK!

My thoughts exactly. And when you buy a cheap card like the GTX 770, you get the backplate for free.

Anyways, I don't care, because I placed orders for both brands (2x EVGA Classifieds and 2x MSI Lightnings) and whichever deliveres the soonest I will keep and cancel the other two. I just find it weird that you don't even get a free backplate (like with the cheap GTX 770) with their top-rated product and that you have to pay extra for it.

Yeah I know, but Sweden and Denmark are in EU and the price is as high there. I just hoped the plate would be included for that price :) Can the backplate be ordered trough EVGA and be shipped to Norway? Because it doesn't  look like its possible to order it in Norway.

Not sure what you mean. Not every buyer is fixated on voltage. The cooler is "Larger", the Factory "Clocks" are much higher. Dual BIOS and so on. They sell out of the Classified cards year after year, and usually before any another model. EVGA clearly knows what "Majority" of buyers want.

Let us not forget. "Most" buyers want a superiour product with a warranty. That requires EVGA to maintain what Nvidia instructs them to. Those that do not care about a warranty, well they know how to get around some little voltage restriction.

Frankly I was pretty excited to see the price point of the Classified this time around. It is why I jumped all over it. For $50 more than the Vanilla version we get...

Yeah, it's well worth it for anyone considering purchasing a 780 period. $50 doesn't mean nearly as much at $700 as it does at a $400 price range lol.

Look. This is the norm. Even the GTX 580 Classy was this way. But the Vanilla to Classy pricing was $50-$100 more!! $499 Vanilla, $599 Classy at release (price breaks came later)... Buy the backplate or do not. Your choice...
