If any blocks are offered for the Classified... I suggest buying them day one. GOod chance most companies will only offer a "Single run" and we will never see them again. Seems to be the trend the last two generations anyway...
It's weird, because I only remember one company doing that... 
Oh really? Do what exactly? Make blocks for Classy or only make one run? Not every company even chooses to make any... ANd we have all seen EVGA run out of blocks pretty dog gone fast. And thread after thread asking for more or when will they come back in stock... lol And I live 15 minutes from Koolance... I know first hand what they build and test. Limited or not. And a buddy of mine works for HK... And I knew one of the Engineers at Danger Den... Maybe my understanding is more about a group rather than the general public in this situation?

I think he's talking about EK making a really limited release of blocks for the GTX 285 Classified. If not, I'm not sure.

Yup, we had to beg for a 2nd run of 680 Classified blocks

the backplate photos went away for the classified.
does this mean it wont come with the backplate?
They removed it, because it was incompatible, or atleast that's what Jacob said.
So there will be no backplate for the Classified.
Dang it! This might be false hope mind you... But they still have it pictured on the WC version of the Classy!! And if I remember correctly.. My 680's required the back-plate in order to add the WB... If my memory is correct, it makes me think that might still be the case with these units as well. In reality I bet this is part of the delay for the Hydro Classy... They could not get the back-plate to work out so they have to re-design the WB. "Pure" speculation on my part of course...**Crossed fingers**

my guess is tomorrow, but there will be a very very limited amount. Even if it was released tomorrow, next day delivery will be for Monday or Tuesday, SOOOOO we are a ways out yet!

Honestly it doesn't seem worth the hassle to me to sell a brand new card to upgrade to something marginally better....just my 2 cents.

How does the vagaries of shipping, demonstrate which is the better card? Rumored date for the Lightning is Aug 13. No 'solid' rumor for the Classified yet. Where did you pre-order the cards at?

Yes and I start to be inpatient because I prepare money, change in dollars and give exactly site and model of card on paper but people don't think to sleep on comp to buy card for me like many users here. I hope in next 15-20 days people can buy card on online shop.
OK I will buy in Europe but I will save maybe good part of money like this.

Pre-ordered both cards at a German webshop (Mindfactory). However pre-ordering was taken down since early this week. Probably to many pre-orders? For the Classifieds I really got a good deal with them. Pre-ordered both cards for 1100 Euro's (without VAT, I ordered through our company within EU). Comes down to 550 Euro each. So maybe I will let them ship both (EVGA and MSI) and sell the EVGA's for some good profit. ;)

Yeah that would be the price I would have paid if VAT was included. I guess it will be a little more expensive in Europe though. Because if you look at the current pricing of the GTX 780 SC ACX it's already around 650 Euro. By the way, the pricing in my country (the Netherlands) is insane. They charge for a GTX 780 SC ACX 674,95 Euro incl. shipping. That's why I don't order anymore within the Netherlands. :P

OK I count on price about 750e in first moment, but they drop little price probably because same memory and no backplate.
Because last year and before that about 100-110$ was difference from stock model.
Any way I will find card, It's important I like her and NVIDIA 780 really worth of shoping. If Intel screwed NVIDIA didn't.
My plan was and when I bought Ivy to buy GK110 Classified but never mind one year later. On game market nothing change really important except 3-4 games really hard.

Hahahaha!! Well... Yep, I why I am running three screens at my office.  In fact... All my employees and partners thought I had lost my mind when I did that... The Classified has a different PCB that is designed for higher overclocking. IN theory you should expect to get more performance out of a classified vs the standard AXC card

780 Classified has a better quality PCB, better power delivery etc, and is larger. ACX heatsink and shroud are also larger on the Classfied. Regular ACX cooler 780 is a reference PCB with a different cooler.
