I am curious to know what adjustments people are making to a clean install of Windows 10, now it is rolling out. Here are 4 from me:

1) Only Get Windows Updates from Microsoft (not other users)

Settings --> Update & Security --> Windows Update --> Advanced Options --> Choose how updates are installed --> Choose how updates are delivered --> Change "updates from more than one place" to Off.

2)    Turn off Wifi Sense (it is a Privacy and Security Risk)

Settings --> Network & Internet --> WiFi --> Manage WiFi Settings --> Turn off Both options under WiFi Sense

3)    Show File Extensions

Windows and E (to open File Explorer) --> View --> On the ribbon section show/hide put a tick in "File name extensions"

4) Turn off automatic reboot for Windows Updates

Settings --> Update & Security --> Windows Update --> Advanced Options --> Change Choose how updates are installed to "Notify to Schedule Restart"

Windows 10 is a very stable well rounded operating system with DX12. It's arrival is long overdue.

Windows 8 was a terrible release and Windows 8.1 was a patch for that release.

Thanks for the posts rj. I hated windows 8, even with shell start button. I figured I would upgrade to 10 since it was free and I rarely use my laptop unless its for school, which i mostly use my desktop for anyways since it is way easier to do homework and simulations etc on 4 monitors instead of a dinky laptop. I will be keeping 7 on my desktop for quite a while though.

(My first post here, Hello EVGA community!)
I'm still deciding on if I should upgrade to Win10 from 8.1, Like many I'm waiting for the bugs to be fixed and drivers to become stable. People are having so many mixed experiences. I'll play the safe route of the waiting game. :D

I've upgraded 3 machines so far.  The first one was just a file server with basically no programs or applications beyond antivirus, so I figured I had nothing to lose.  The upgrade went smooth as silk.  So I upgrade my laptop next.  I don't use it for much but surfing the net from the kitchen, so again, not a lot of apps installed but more than the file server.  And again, the upgrade was smooth as silk.  I mean, zero issues on either machine.  So I took the plunge on my main desktop/gaming machine, which is loaded down with 300GB of crap.

One minor issue.  The onboard soundcard, a Via chip, showed up as installed correctly but I had no sound.  I had to uninstall the drivers and reinstall them.  Took me 5 minutes total.  And every app and program and game I own seems to work 100% on this machine too.  I'm very impressed.  Like, stunned that they could pull this off so well.  Unless something blows totally up in the next few days I'm a happy camper.

I had the audio issue as well, and nothing else gave me any issues at all. I love everything about it so far. It starts fast, runs smooth, and functions very well.

Oh yeah, if I dedicate one gpu to PhysX, I can enable sli for two of them. If I try to enable SLI for all 4, it freaks out.

My Mrs just got a new laptop (Lenovo LaVie Z) with Windows 8.1 installed. I had forgotten just how bad W8 was.. omg lol, I installed MS Office 2013, and to get to it, you need to click the windows icon on bottom left, then when the tiles appear you have to click a 'down' arrow to get to apps, then scroll to the right until the Office Word/Excel etc. tiles appear, then click on what you want. How in hell could MS think that was better than clicking Start Menu and there it was. 1 click to get there, as opposed to 2 clicks and a sideways scroll (did I mention how much I hate sideways scrolling? No? Well I really hate sideways scrolling.) Maybe I'll let her laptop go to Windows 10. Both our desktops and my laptop are W7 btw, and no intention of changing those any time soon.

Tin foil hat moment: What if MS made Windows 8/8.1 really bad *on purpose*, in order to make everyone jump over to Windows 10 when they had it ready, regardless of what was in it.

Yeah, it's a PITA to find what you're looking for the first time but then you can right-click and pin it to the Start Menu.

Exactly. Everything is intact and works perfectly, after fixing the minor sound card glitch. I was surprised, to put it mildly, but highly impressed by the upgrade process.

That's the irony of it all.. you end up with it back on the start menu.. like you had in W7. What was the point of moving it in the first place? lol.. silly MS.

Honestly, I find myself missing the start screen from 8. It was nice to have all my favorites laid out in one place, easy to find and get to like that. But you know what? I'll adapt.

So you were able to upgrade with all your files and programs and you didn't lose anything?

Exactly. Everything is intact and works perfectly, after fixing the minor sound card glitch. I was surprised, to put it mildly, but highly impressed by the upgrade process.

Hmm, I may just give it a shot......

Yeah, it's a PITA to find what you're looking for the first time but then you can right-click and pin it to the Start Menu.

I'll adapt.

If you like the Windows 8/8.1 layout...go into settings and change the machine to tablet mode.  Then it is almost like that again.  Spacing is different, however...used to be able to fit 6 groups of tiles across...now, maybe 4.  Also...not sure how to access desktop from tablet mode...haven't really played with my tablet a lot since upgrading to 10.  All other machines still on 8.1, and laptop on 7
