Thanks for pointing these out, I kind of need a new board if I want to use the front panel USB ports since my current Z170 boards header is beat up and I have to bend pins to use it and the cable comes out is I bump it. But a big point for me is the spacing on the 2 PCIe x16 slots. I personally use 2 GTX1070s and spacing does not exist on the Z170 FTW board I use. If I didn't plan on saving for the possible Skylake-X that should come out, I would get the board even if I was sticking with skylake, supposing that skylake works in it which it should.

Yes, I'm so glad that EVGA noted the prior problems and correct those on this new Z270 motherboard.  I did not purchase a 2nd GTX 1070 FTW due to the motherboards slot tightness situation.  Sounds like you may need to upgrade just to allow you use of a new usb header for your front panel.  I am already upgrading my GTX 1070 FTW ACX 3.0 to the ICX model and then later progressing further on to buying the GTX 1080 instead due to the incoming games progressing to 4K.  Two GTX 1080's would definitely allow me to go full extreme 4K with all games set to max.

But they have priced it close to x99 classified/FTW motherboard. Do you think besides processor difference if its a good upgrade from x79

I would like to point out, that I upgraded from an older platform.
    EVGA X79 Dark / i7 3930K @ 4.5Ghz / 2x EVGA GTX 970 SCC
    to EVGA Z270 FTW-K / i7 7700K @ (stock for now) / EVGA GTX 1070 Founders Edition

The results are pretty impressive !
Most of my benchmarks are either beating my previous build, or matching it, but with much less power & heat demands. Exceptions being the benchmarks that test multicore performance. 6 cores outweighs 4 in many cases. But for what I use my PC for, its not bothering me.
    I'll post my results soon.

i debating on whether to step-up from the z170 classy K for $119.53 or just stick with it. only plan on one GPU so slot spacing doesn't matter to much, u.2 does not interest me since the drives are crazy priced right now and you can get the m.2 adapter for them anyway. optane its not available yet. extra USB 3.0 doesn't matter since my case only has one 3.0 connector ( what ever happened to the extra goodies you used to get with mother boards? ) so about the only thing that does interest me is the heat-pipe evga logo below the CPU slot lol. if it was only cheaper

    I would step-up.
EVGA Z270 Classified K is real high end E-ATX motherboard.
I really like this new board for Kaby Lake. If you have chance to replace and CPU maybe you will be able to OC to 5.0GHz.
Only 500MHz need for i7-7700K to hit magic number 5. Small number of people used any Intel CPU on 5.0GHz 24/7... now is chance.
And price is not bad, 299$ for..

No.  I "was" going to upgrade from a ASROCK Extreme 4 w/I7-2600K to the EVGA Z170 Classified but now going to Step Up to the Z270 Classified K instead w/I7-7700K

I was glad to see the Z270 finally hit the Step Up list!  I only had 18 days to Step Up from Z170 to Z270 so I started the Step Up.  Hopefully I'll get into a quere slot one day soon.  Given how well built and laid out the new Z270 Classified K is, there was just too many plus's +++++ not to go ahead and make the Step Up while I had a (days) chance.

Ready to build, then that's awesome!  For me, I'm NOT giving up my EVGA RGB Torq X10 Gaming mouse which, the more I use it, the more I love it!!!

Agreed, my Torq X10 will go nicely with my system when I rebuild it tonight, since I gave my Z170 FTW to a coworker who has had issues with his motherboards that he had for his build. Even with me rebuilding, it is still mostly EVGA with the PSU, motherboard, and GPUs from EVGA. Did not see a point in replacing my current liquid cooler with a 120 CLC since the real difference is RGB over no LED.

i signed up for the stepup, i have yet to order my cpu yet but yes it will be the i7-7700k that is going in. the 170 have never has even been powered on so they are getting back basically a brand new board lol
one of the main reasons i did the stepup was the look, it just looks classifiedish, my last system was a x58 e760 classified and it looked like nothing else, the red e on the cooler and other things the regular board didn't have, that is high end area, the 170k looked so similar to the ftw that they should have not called it a classified board.

I already had the thermaltake water 3.0 360 with 3 RGB fans so didnt see the point in going to a smaller EVGA cooler although with the ICX gpu's the RGB's sync.  I see the new RGB rams are out which each strip has 5 RGB leds which are said to sync with most any gpu's rgb's...not sure it WILL sync with EVGA's gpu's.
