So I get my Evga Acx 3.0 card today. Excitedly, I rip open the package like a kid on Christmas. I then start to take off protective plastic covering.
Guess what? The plastic covering is under the screws holding on the aluminum accents! So In order to get all the plastic off, I need to buy a special screw driver to remove the plastic completely.
I'm really not happy. Wow Evga

Same here, fortunately I had the right size driver so just a couple extra minutes spent removing and replacing the screws.

I mean, I feel like I could remove that just fine and not have any plastic stick out on the edges but thats just me. How about showing us a picture of it removed? Or you literally going to try and unscrew that first?

Huh, how about that. An allen wrench set would probably do it right? Just back the screw out a little bit, remove the plastic, and tighten it back up?

IF it singes the cooler a little, they may make you pay to replace the cooler. Allen keys are very cheap, and I would think just a little would allow the plastic to stretch around the top of the screw. That is a strange choice to install it though.

The plastic badge pieces come to EVGA's assembly plant from the vendor with the transparent scuff-resistant coating already applied. How do you propose that EVGA solve this issue? Do you propose that EVGA pay a worker to peel up the corners of the plastic, install the screw, and try to push the plastic back down over the top of the screw? That is a lot of fiddly labor if you add it all up. Additionally, that fiddly labor won't even look professional since the plastic scuff-resistant coating will stretch, bubble, rip, or ball up in the corners once completed. Will you not then complain about the quality of the scuff-resistant application? Is it not easier to ship the product with a professional-looking appearance and expect the small percentage of OCD-types to do the work themselves if they are so bothered by it?

Yep, the plastic is under the screws, I don't recall the ACX2+ having that problem. And after I took TWENTY FIVE minutes of getting only most of the plastic off (because all of it is impossible without taking out the screws) The card doesnt work as it should. It's going back, never getting EVGA.

Yeah, I ran into the same issue on my 1080 SC. I didn't use an Allen wrench and I just pulled out as much as I could on all the screws but I will have to go through later tonight and get the rest of the plastic off. It was a pretty big pain in the butt so hopefully they fix it in the future

I for sure would not be happy about the current OP, however seeing my other choices I wouldn't leave. I know Evga will extend there hand and assist in this situation, however not likely to pay emotional damage that was incurred from this. Nothing worse than getting your new product and not be happy with it.

Arct1c0n But someone majorly ... at the factory with the timing of the robots and placement of parts in assembly line. Ting Tang Tong is gonna get fired
As I said earlier, the plastic badge comes to EVGA's assembly plant from the badge manufacturing vendor with the scuff-resistant coating already applied. It's not a robot assembly step issue. It is an issue of deciding whether you want to pay a human to manually peel up the corners, mess up the finish with fingerprints and create bubbles, tears, wrinkles, and so forth in coating for the robot to install the badges without the screws covering the coating or install it the way they are currently for cheaper and provide a more professional-looking finish in the box and annoy the small percentage of OCD-types.
