Its a good thing EVGA has the step up program so when i get my 980 I can upgrade to a 980 ti if this rumor really is true.

This is bad, this is bad. AMD will wait after 6 months to launch stronger card.
NVIDIA CAN'T LAUNCH THAT MODEL BEFORE AMD. THEY WILL OC, THEY WILL PUT TWO AIO IF NEED, EVERYTHING ONLY TO WIN FOR 10-15% FOR 200$ LESS.
    NVIDIA MUST STOP BEFORE R9-390X.
And again we will read New R9-390X slightly stronger than NVIDIA Titan II, score 2000 more, etc...
NOOOO! BUT THAN NO OTHER CHIP, THEY CAN ONLY TO LAUNCH SOME BLACK EDITION OVERCLOCKED OR SOMETHING ELSE AND EVERYTHING CAN FINISH AS
    TITAN Z VS R9-295X.
No I will not enter in GM200 384bit, GM210 is real and he wait us at the end of 2015.

Never fear, I would be anything that NVidia is still holding off, and will be able fire back in a couple of weeks notice.

You are probably right, NVIDIA will present GTX980Ti and AMD will launch something similar and than for few months real thing GM210 for 1000$.
Isus I must upgrade on that card.
What can we expect from Maxwell GM200, about 6GB memory and 40-45% improvements over Titan Black.
I expect some models of GM210 to achieve about 20.000 GPU Performance in Firestrike.

    Ok...
There will not be a GTX 980 TI why? Because unlike the 780 the GTX 980 has all of its cores enabled on launch no clusters disabled... The only thing that the GTX 980 and the 780/780 TI have in common is their logical processing cores are stripped... so that means there will be a Maxwell/900 series Geforce style Titan again that is the whole chip. Guessing knowing nvidia a 800-1k+ price tag because nvidia knows there are people like me out there that need those logical processing cores for 3d modeling/rendering and still want a card to game on, but we refuse to buy an overpriced clocked down Quadro, they also know there are people out there that are running insane resolutions with 1 or 3 displays that will pay whatever it takes for a couple extra fps... they also know there are people out there with no sense but have cash to burn, that will burn the money on the most expensive card they honestly do not need nor know how to fully utilize but will go "I am awesome now!"

Look, it is quite simple: GTX980 is faster than Titan Black, so regardless of AMD's Status, nVidia needs to succeed it with another Titan.  Last time, introducing GTX780 Ti made the first Titan obsolete, so Black came.  Only after AMD finally makes a move will a cheaper version come of the $999 Maxwell come, and you guys can all that a "GTX980 Ti".

For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

No, it'll be called a TITAN OMGFTWLOLWUTIDGAFAMDSUX². It will also have a tiny speaker that plays a recording on bootup of Chuck Norris saying "They call me Bruce." because you don't get much harder than Chuck Norris being Bruce Lee.

I had a 290 before my 780ti, and I can easily say the 780ti was worth the extra.

The amount of black screen problems I had with the 290 was ridiculous some games wouldn't even last the intro before they crashed.

4 R9 290s later (all confirmed as faulty memory by the manufactorer and I gave in and paid the Nvidia premium. And its been faultless, not 1 problem, ran quieter and extra features that I've enjoyed using like physx and shadow play.

I just wanted chime in to say thank you for your service, I too am a veteran and I really liked the pic in your signature.

Also I'm not too concerned if they release a 980Ti or Titan, both of those historically are outside of my price range, tbh the only reason I got the 980 is because of the price drop.  So far as the 'AMD might have a better card" I don't believe it, I have never had luck with getting an AMD card to run well for me the ones I have always have issues.  Whether it is stability issues like I had with their stuff in 1999 - 2000 or more recently when a friend of mine and myself were working on a java program.  One day it literally took his AMD based CPU/GPU combo an hour to launch eclipse while it tried to load the java API.  After a bit of research we found out that AMD and Oracle are having some kind of quiet quarrel about who is right about how something should be implemented.  With all that being said there will never be an AMD GPU that compares to nVidia for me.   I'm not even going to get into the power consumption issue, which is a big one for me, throwing more power at the problem is not the solution in my mind.

But anyway it's breakfast time, so I digest.

Step-up is almost always only to the reference card of the series and usually stepping up is from a lower series. Occasionally EVGA might make a non-reference card available for step-up, but I don't think I've seen that happen on or anywhere near release date of the non-reference card. Sorry.

Its a good thing EVGA has the step up program so when i get my 980 I can upgrade to a 980 ti if this rumor really is true.

If the 980ti comes out within the 3 months you bought the 980.
