I know this might be a bit bland, but +1 to everything everyone has said. Stay strong, don't give up, and God bless you and your family. You, your family, and especially your son will be in our prayers.

Thank you for all of your kind words.

Update is still not positive. He had a lung collapse today. Well half of one medically speaking. He is fighting multiple infections. We cannot attempt to wake him up until they are gone. This could take a day to a few days. They cannot say.

We have faith and trust. We will not give up until we have no other choice.

I realize that I should not have started this post as I reflect back on it. And will make this my last posting of this situation. This is a computer forum/community and it needs to stay that way.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers, and know they are working!!! AB

I honestly just shed a few tears.  I almost know how it feels.  When I was in High School, two of my best friends were killed in a car accident(they were brother + sister).  I had known both of them literally since we were in diapers.  I can't imagine it being a family member.  I will keep you, your family, and your son in my prayers.

This is serious and very personal...... Please go hug your children right now, then come back to read this. Then go hug them again and make darn sure they know you love them.

My Sunday started off with a Police officer knocking on my door. He handed me a name and phone number to call. With only the following information. Your Son is in the hospital in the ICU and you need to go see him now.

We did. Upon arriving we learned that  my son was a passenger in an auto accident.

At this time....... The driver is OK, but my son is not good. Medically paralyzed and on life support. It will be 24hours now in about thirty minutes.

He is in his early 20's and no, no alcohol was involved. The driver lost control of the vehicle on a gravel road and left the roadway.

The ambulance got to the scene about 20 minutes after the accident. My son was not breathing and had no heartbeat.

They took 22 minutes, three Defibulator hits, a lot of CPR and medications later. My son came back to us.

We will not know until the earliest of tomorrow afternoon if he has brain damage or not, and if he will come back home to us or not.

Just needed to type it I guess..... Still in shock and disbelief.

I'm saying a pray for him tonight for sure man!

We are a community of computer builders, You could say a family of OCers,  There are sections for specific topics, and then there is General Discussion ( Quote )" A forum for everything else  "; This is indeed something else. ( and therefore qullifies ) If there can be posts about furry kittens, zombie invasions,  joke of the day, and what movie, or TV show is out, there can sure as hell be one about supporting the members of our commjunity. If it bothers you to post updates, then stop, but your extended computer family is concerned, and extremley interested in hearing any good news you decide to share. Many of us want to support and assist you in any way we can, and anyone that doesn't want to can simply not read the post. Whatever you want or need at this time , Is what we want or need. What good is a community that is not there for it's members.

Yeah true, and good points... No sleep in three days makes my one brain cell sloooooooooooooow.....

We feel drugged. Like in a dream but numb at the same time. We cry, get mad, feel pity, demand answers, ask the same questions repeatedly.

It is not that I do not want to update you BTW.... It was just me thinking I might have potentially posted when I should not have. That's all.

I was a Volunteer Fireman for 5+ years, and understand a lot more then most. Imagine looking you wife in the eye of 20 ish years, and try to lie to her for the first time in your relationship, because your trained to comfort as a man and as a professional... But can't....

This is absolutely crushing to our entire family. Devastating does not begin to describe the horror. And as each day goes by with no answer, we find more to fear and learn more than any person should ever have to learn.

The reaon for this taking time, is they have to get rid of the infections before they can test the brain. They have him on Morphine and three or four Antibiotics (and a few other items) and these meds mess up the tests they need to run to see if the part of the brain we all need to wake up and communicate to the world, is even still there.

The neurological portion of the brain to be exact.

Thank you all again for your kind words and prayers. I am sure they are helping, because we still have him today and at least tomorrow, and as each day goes by that brings us more hope......

AB... I don't know how much they have told you, but the morphine is meant to induce coma. They are hoping that by putting him into a sleep state it will give the brain a chance to reduce the inflammation caused by the trauma. Hopefully the doctors are telling you this and keeping you informed as to what they are doing. The morphine will affect any testing they will try to do at this point but I'm sure the hope is that the morphine, and most likely massive amounts of steroids and diuretics, will reduce the swelling and inflammation and help him to heal.

Ab, one, it's theraputic to talk about it and second, prayer in masses will help.  It may not change the physical aspects of what's gonig on but it will allow dependance in the Lord and help to heal your heart.
