So after researching, I decided to go with a 2k Korean 27" monitor. I have been reading tons about all the Qnix panels and the Acers, Asus and Monoprice ones and they all seem to have different strengths and weaknesses. It seems that the AH-IPS is the way to go and the Korean monitors can be clocked well past 60Hz. Ebay has a Crossover perfect pixel for a very reasonable price. It is being shipped from my own state, has a 1 year warranty and can be returned if there is more than 1 pixel is dead. The reviews are all good except for the few idiots that are trying to run it off of their laptops . I understand that the stand is going to suck, the bezel is going to be ugly and that it only has a dual link DVI-D input. I'm ok with all that since I will probably get a vesa stand later and I don't plan to hook anything up to this besides my 970 gtx and a 430 gt from my htpc (which also has a dual port DVI)

So my question is for anyone that has a 1440P monitor.

1. How bad is a 1080P movie going to look in comparison to a native 1080P monitor? I understand that since it is not 1:1 mapping, things are going to be a little goofy. I don't want to watch 1080P movies in a window so is full screen going to be worse than my 27" 1080P monitor now and if so, by a lot?

2. I watch movies from my htpc and play games on the same monitor. Is there going to be any issues with using a dvi switcher like this one? http://www.amazon.com/Mon...Switcher/dp/B001TKPMZ8
I also have a lot of older ripped movies that I am sure are going to look like butt and I know some newer games are going to struggle and probably will never go past 60Hz with my single 970 gtx but I think am doing the right thing...

3. Lastly, Should I go glossy or Matte? I am in a light controlled room most of the time and the price is about the same for either one. Maybe a little more for the glossy.

So after more research, it seems that the monitor to get is the Crossover 2795. It can overclock to 100Hz without breaking a sweat but I am not liking the notice that dead pixels is not a reason for return. The pixel perfect model is more. Ugggg... $265 was nice but now $300+ kinda sucks. Anyone have one of these?

You may have issues with movies if not HDMI compliant unless all movies are bootleg but may not work if played off of a Blu-ray or store-bought disc when using a Switch It would have to be HDMI compliant. Also the monitor would too

Are you open to a 4k/UHD monitor?  I picked up mine at Frys, and right now it's $299.  I'm very happy with it.

I doubt my single 970 gtx could push a 4k monitor. I would consider sli but then I would need a new motherboard along with another 970 gtx. If you play a game and set it to 1440P on a 4k monitor, would it look or perform worse than native 1440? $299 for a 4K monitor is a steal even if it is probably locked at 60Hz.

When I first got my monitor, I only had a 970, and that was more than adequate for older titles such as Fallout 3 and Skyrim, but Far Cry 4 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel were a little too much.  I did reduce the resolution to 1440p and was able to play just find and could not discern any visual artifacts or anomalies like stretching or bending the image, and it played quite smoothly.  The monitor I got is a TN panel and specs say that it has a 1ms response time.  I think it looks awesome, and would have no issue running 4k for desktop and video and then reducing it to 1440p for games.  The only thing is that it's an off brand monitor.  Here's a link to it.

I don't live anywhere near a frys. The closest one is about 3 hours away. Amazon has it for $330 but only if you have prime.... Kinda sucks it's locked at 60Hz but then again, it would take a crap load of hoarse power to push past 60fps @4k anyways. Reading the reviews now and it seems pretty good.

Actually the "Prime" designation only means that if you are a prime member, you get free 2 day shipping.  It doesn't change the price.

I see that they also make a ton of Korean 4k sets too. I keep reading a ton of opposing views. Some are saying that 27-28" is too small for 4K and you can't tell a difference and 1440p with a higher rate is better. I think I fortunate because for the most part, I am immune to a lot of the back light and color inaccuracies of cheaper monitors but the one thing I can stand is screen tearing. I worry that 4K may have those issues with my set up. A lot of people playing newer games on 4k monitors and then just turning down the settings. But most are saying that 1440P with 96-120Hz is the "sweet spot" especially for a 970 gtx. Man, I thought I had it figured out...

Well, I can tell you that I have not experienced any screen tearing so far.  Although, I don't play a lot of modern games.  The only two that I have played are Far Cry 4 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.  As you can see in my sig though, that I upgraded from a 970 to a 980 TI which really helped.

I stand corrected.  I didn't see the little box in the top right corner of the Amazon page that says that the $329 price is reserved for Prime members.

Keep in mind this limitation is also due to the throughput available on current revisions of display port and HDMI.  There is just not enough bandwidth yet, later revisions will make it available.... looking forward to a 4k 120hz monitor, preferably GSync.....I know I preach GSync, I was up in the air about it until I saw it in action live once and have been sold ever since.... but I digressed, the 60hz at this point in time cannot be overcome with the current technology for outputs on video cards, unless it is attempted with MST which I do not think is a viable solution.

uggg.... now this 21:9 monitor is on sale at Newegg

Almost every review is good. It seems like it would be pretty immersive but it is stuck at 60Hz. I can't decide anything!
