Hello I bought a gtx-970 at newegg and registered it and have 70 days left to step up.
My question is I do not see model # EVGA  04G-P4-2986-KR for step up.  I have model EVGA 04G-P4-3975-KR and was not gonna get 980 but due to vram and it happens to affect the games I like, and I built my system to game. Can I step up to that model and gladly pay difference I always buy overclocked or should I go and try return to newegg and buy from them?
   Thank you curtis

You can only step up to the GTX 980 ACX 2.0 gpu. The others are not available for step up, as the rules Normally are set to reference cards only.

The 970 had quite a few exceptions, which was great to see, but not necessary at all.

The GTX 980 ACX 2.0 would still be a fantastic card all around.

If you bought at Newegg then you are lucky. Many stores on the world don't want to accept returns :(
