Hey gang,
I am looking at increasing my SSD space on my current rig. My system still runs very well and I will probably wait another year or two before building a new system. So I am going to need some more SSD space in the near future as I continue to add games.
Currently I have two ea 256 gb Samsung Pro SSD drives ( C& E), that are plugged into the two Intel Sata III 6gb controllers. My C: drive I have of course Windows and all my applications on, my E: drive is dedicated for my games.

My options are:
Replace the games SSD with a larger one where it will still utilize one of the Intel controllers.
Add a SSD and plug into one of the Marvell controllers.

Obviously it would seem to make more sense to do the latter as I would still have my current 256gb drive utilized as is and have the new one for installing new games as I add them. My only concern there is seems like I had read in the past when I first built this system that the Marvell ports were less than optimal to use for Sata III SSD drives - or am I remembering wrong?

Thanks for any tips,

Don

"Replace the games SSD with a larger one where it will still utilize one of the Intel controllers." You could do this but you have Windows 10 and from what problem I have seen remove or change drives.
Marvell controllers are 6G (600 MB/s) data and your new drives are not going to be the OS drive I would just use them.

My 500 Pro ran out of space even though I moved 1/2 of my Steam games to a spare ssd. I bought a 1000G ssd for Christmas and cloned the C:\ drive. I then made the 500G my spare drive by reformatting it. I also have 2 smaller ssd drives I use for backups. I don't like to enable the Marvell controller due to the extra boot time required.

That is me in the picture, anyone else ever pet a live Lion?

Ok thanks much guys, I will likely go ahead and order the SSD and try using one of the Marvell to see how it does. Would be the easiest and simplest way to try first, then if not satisfied I can try the other option.

    Thanks,
