I know that with dual channel, if you have one 4GB and one 8GB, that last 4GB (part of the 8GB) will run as single channel.  They call it Flex mode.  For quad channel on X99, what if I have 4 sticks of 4GB and 4 sticks of 8GB in 8 slots, would they run as quad channel mode or Flex mode?  I'm thinking it would be Quad channel mode but not 100%.
Thx!

I honestly haven't tried, however, the IMC is meant to run the same size and speed DIMMs for each slot, running them differently is inviting stability and performance issues.  I would advise against it, as I have seen it not work the best on several other generations of boards.

Can you try it and post your results?  I know 4x4GB with 4x8GB will work.  Just a matter of them running in fully quad or not.  Thank you!
