I love the performance of my new card but right now as we speak it revving away at 100% (too loud) with a temp of 20 degrees Celsius. Is there any reason in particular the fan runs at 100% all the time no matter how much or how little my card needs cooling? Seems like a pretty big oversight for such a premium card.

You may have a defective fan controller.

The fan on the Hybrid cooler and graphics card can be controlled via the PrecisionX software.  You may want to check and see if the fan profile is set to default or if for some reason it is set to 100%.  If you still continue to have troubles with the fan speed, then please contact our 24 hour Technical Support team for further assistance @ 888.881.3842 and press 1.

    Two common reasons/fixes.

    1) Double check that the 6-pin / 8-pin supplemental power connectors (and adapters too if used) are fully connected/seated.
    2) Uninstall your current NVIDIA Graphics Driver and any optional driver components with Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Safe Mode using the Clean and restart (Highly Recommended) option..After restart, Windows will install standard drivers..Restart..Then perform a Custom (Advanced) install of the latest NVIDIA Graphics Driver, selecting only to install the HD Audio Driver and PhysX System Software along with the Graphics Driver..After the final restart, then you can install EVGA PrecisionX and go from there.

If still no joy, contact EVGA support.

This is correct, though I think if you disconnect the rad fan from the card you can plug it into a CHA or OPT fan port on your motherboard for some control over RPM.

You can control the radiator fan speed that's connected to the card with this software?!  I did not know that.  I've purposely avoided using that connector as I read else where that you could not.

Please can you confirm if the radiator mounted fan can be controlled in Precision? Or is disconnecting it from the card and attaching it to the mobo the only way to get any control? I noticed in Precision it only has 1 fan speed toggle (which works very well, nearly blew my ceiling off!) which only controls the fan on the GPU itself.

I believe the fan control in Precision X only controls the speed of the fan on the card. The cooler fan runs at a constant speed regardless of load or temperatures.

Yes, Precision controls the fan on the card only.
