Here is Friday's update.  There are some more pictures of various parts as they were drying and the right side's rear ductwork.  The final pictures are of the case mostly put back together!  The pieces are rather dusty (due to the work environment) but wipe off rather nicely.  The acrylic sides need to be trimmed to fit right and the internal wiring needs to be done next.  We're getting close!

There are some other parts that need to be trimmed so that things move smoothly, but overall, I hope to be done next week!  You might notice some slight gaps in the seams up front (between the side panels and the front panels).  That is because the inner tabs that pull those panels shut were drying from being painted and weren't in use when I took these pictures.  They will go back on tonight.

No mouse.  There is a touch pad integrated into the mini-keyboard.  He will actually use a separate keyboard and mouse for normal use just like he will be using a triple monitor setup instead of the integrated 8" screen.

Quick update with videos!

Here is a close up of the top hinge for the waterfall wall. The bottom hinge and the aquarium side are all hinged in the same way.

Here is the video of the waterfall side opening and closing on that hinge:

Here is a close up of the servo and inner workings of the control center.

I'm still tweaking it, but it is very very close!

Here is the video of one of my test sessions with it running.

The assembly for supporting the motor for moving the keyboard in and out is drying and I should be able to post pictures and video of it in action tomorrow!

Seriously awesome... This build is epic... I love the flatscreen thats built into the top there... one thing I personally would have done was made it a touchscreen.

Yes, BlackArtz.  Black spray paint and then for the outside surfaces, a layer of lacquer over that.

Re:Project Peregrine 2011/10/06 21:51:14 (permalink)
I've been working on the wiring of late.

Here is the wiring for the inside of the Baffle Box.  36 sleeved fan wires hooked up to the two 25pin D-sub's along with the wiring for the two LED light bars!

Switches in the control console (can you guess which part still needs to be painted?!).

Backside of control console as switches are starting to be wired to the microcontroller.

I'm making custom length (36" apiece!) individually sleeved wiring for the fans between the Baffle Box and the fan controllers at the front of the case.  Oh, and I have to make more for the case fans to connect to the controllers (four controllers in all!).

Here's an update on this project.
Sadly near the end of 2011, due to several issues, Falcon and I agreed to split ways and drop this project.  I've returned all the parts that he had sent me back to him (radiators, fans, etc.).  I'm also starting to pay him back for the money that he had sent me to buy some of the other components and wood, acrylic, etc.

Of course I am bummed about not getting paid for the work I did, but mostly bummed about not getting to finish this project.  It was a great project though and one that I learned a lot and greatly enjoyed!

Thank you to everyone of you who watched this project, gave helpful critiques and supportive comments.  I cannot believe the number of views I've gotten not only on this great website, but also on youtube with my "12 Delta fans" video from this project!

Falcon gave me a great opportunity to not only stretch my skills, but also to try new things and show others what can be done (probably even better if they try it than how I did it!).

I still am going to try to sell or use the various parts from this project in other projects so that all is not lost there, but I have definitely kept busy!  Check out my latest Mod Rigs project here: http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?high=&m=1410063&mpage=1#1410063.

Thanks again for all the support that you have shown me throughout this project!
