So I have been building this PC for awhile now and have created one off threads here and there, but I think it is time to consolidate my build into one thread that can grow as my systems reaches its final destination. So with that I would like to share my build with you and see where it leads me in the next few months.

Full Build Log - Corsair Obsidian 800d Dual Loop System all within the case

Current System Specs:

PC Setup:
CPU: Intel Core i7 920
Motherboard: EVGA X58 E760 Classified 3-Way SLI + PhysX
Graphics: EVGA GTX 470 for PhysX (waiting on HC FTW 480's)
Memory: Corsair XMS3 6GB (3 x 2GB)
PSU: Silverstone 1500ST
Case: Corsair Obsidain 800D
Hard Drives: OCZ Vertex 60GB & OCZ Vertex 30GB - 2x WD 150GB Raptors
Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit

Items On Order:

Graphics: 1x EVGA GTX 480 HC FTW (Was only able to get 1 this week, will order #2 once the next wave is available
GTX 360 Rad + fittings and mounting for outside of case install

------------------------------------------------------------

My Build Guide:

As big as the Corsair Obsidian 800d case is, it is just not meant for a massive dual loop system built inside the case. I am not a big fan of huge radiators hanging off the back of my system so I did a few mods to allow a GTX 240 Radiator fit in the lower level of my case. While the system cools my components well, the overall look is not so pleasing with that big MCP665 right in my side panel window.

So I am now in the midst of redoing my water cooling layout to remove that 665 from the window so I have a direct view of the components that matter. Here is an image of my system in its current state, Tubes all over and some new additions from my original build.

I will be starting to build out my system to mount a 360 rad on the back side to bring temps down overall while under full load. Look at my below post for the new layout & any input or ideas are more than welcome.

Also I have hired Crys1s from the forums to help me dress up my cabling with some Black and Blue highlights
----------------------------
Update: 9/21/2010

Here is some final shots of how my system looks today. It has gone through some buig updates and changes from the above, but I am happy with the final break down.

I did a lot of research on water blocks before buying this one. Overall its tough to base a buy on a review as they are never using the same parts. But overall with my GT stealth 360 rad in a push/pull with the CPU running 4.2GHz she idles at 27c and under load (gaming) keeps below the 60c range at the cores with fans at 1200RPM. I can boost fans to 2000RPM (which can make some sound) and run the CPU under load at 54c per core.

thats a nice idle temp, im @4.4 and i idle @37C core temp on a gtz block, im going to upgrade to a heatkiller, or an xt, cant wait to see your rig with hydros installed, i just added an ek block to my 285 classy, what a difference from 47C to 32C idle!

My GTX 295 would sit at 35c idle and never jump above 42c in gaming... if I put it on Furmark for a few hours it would hit 50c. I am hoping the thermals of 2 GTX 480's will stay in check on the same loop.

I can't wait either... honestly this is the first time I have waited for new tech. But than again I wasn't running water back at the 6800 Ultra launch or the 7 series, 8 series, 9 series or until the end of the 200 series... Oh well, I hope EVGA really picks out Gem cards for the HC FTW series would like to see how far they can be pushed.

Is this even right? I got my new 980x and the idle temps on the chip are 15c cooler than the i7 920. Did I just not have the block installed properly on my 920? or does this chip just run that much cooler?

I'm pretty sure its just the fact that the 980x is a 32nm chip and the 920 is a 45nm chip. That's why you are seeing such a decrease in your idle temps; awesome seeing 6 core temps in e-leet, haha

I knew the 32nm chips ran cooler... but 15c? That is a big drop. I have been playing around with it and have her running at 4.4GHz and have yet to see any of the cores rise above 38c idle.  On my 920 the cores would be in the mid 40's at 4.2GHz at idle.

Also under full load the chip has not gone over 63c... seems to me this chip has a lot more head room maybe 4.6Ghz+?

I got 1 of my 2 my GTX 480 HC FTW today!!!

    Some detailed images...

    Leak testing

Started pushing some Vantage runs with the slight OC from the looks of it If I want to go above 870MHz on the core I am going to need some voltage adjustments. The memory on the card seems to be able to go much farther than my GTX 470 memory in just basic overclocking. I was able to run it at  850/2100/1700 without any issues.

I can't wait for EVGA to release their Voltage mod so I can start tinkering away.

As for water I have not been able to get the card to go over 42c on my 240 rad under full load. This block works very well for not being full coverage and I have only started to tap into its potential.

    Vantage: 25,432
    http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dmv=2114807

I so want my 2nd card... these results are good but 2 would be so much better!

I also scored some new memory yesterday. Got some Corsair Dominator 1866MHz memory. Have them running at 1886 speeds currently was able to get them stable at 1928Mhz. I honestly think these are rejects of the 2000MHz they have the potential to get high in the OC area.

I wasn't planning on ever moving a rad outside of my case, but with the prospect of adding 3 GTX 480 HC FTW card I want to start figuring out what would be the best flow for the build.

Here is a flow layout & a plumbing layout, any suggestions are more than welcome. I am not happy about having to port this outside of the case, but I have no other options.

Just so you know I am using a 665 pump with speed control so I don't think overall flow would be an issue with the 2 rads...

Here is the list of components I will be using for the new additions... I did my best to pick out parts that would last and carry over to any future builds.

    Black Ice GTX 360
    Koolance Rad Mount
Koolance 140mm Mount adapter (I got this so I can keep my current fan in place)
    Scythe SFF21F 63 CFM S-FLEX x3
Misc fittings to match up the new layout

The biggest thing i am also doing is moving the Chipset to the GPU loop so the CPU is on its own dedicated loop. Not sure if this is the best idea, but any suggestions are welcome

Again any suggestions on my above layout would be very much appreciated.

Update: I have finally finished my build! well minus the 3rd GTX 480 HC FTW & cable sleeves, but that will come down the road once I save up a lot more pennies.

GPU temps now sit at 34c idle and hit 43c under full load. The loop is performing very well, and I like to think it cleaned up very nicely over my original layout.

Overall a few last touches are needed (epic cable sleeves) which are being made and will be delivered on May 1st. That is when it will be 100% done. I will take updated images at that time. But for now its time to game and benchmark this beast.

Hey Sledgehammer70, looks great! I have a question for you. Is that the Koolance rad adapter on the back of your case? If so, how did you still mount a fan on the inside of the case?...maybe I'm missing something, but I just bought one, installed it, and don't see how to continue using a 120mm fan on the inside WITH the Koolance adapter in use. I hope to have my updated pics by Sunday with sli'd 480's and Koolance blocks...too tired today!!

So true.. I find myself daily looking at the case to see what I can do better. At this point I would need a new case all together to get better performance and temps.

You need to get the 140mm adapter. The 800D case has mounts for a 120mm fan and a 140mm fan. I used the 140mm holes for the bracket and the mounts for the Koolance device only need to screw in from the front allowing the case fan to stay in place.

    Thanks
