So... I have been folding with the new GPU3 that was released from F@H, and in that I was not to happy with some of the temps on my CPU & GPU. So to fix that I have been toying with the idea of moving my chipsets off the CPU loop and reversing the flow of my GPU's so that the chipset was the last item to be cooled in the loop before going through 2 Radiators. I just got the loop's back together here are a few quick images that show the water flow on the GPU loop. I did some extensive temp testing on the loops before swapping them around, and have begun to put this new layout through the trenches after about 2 hours I will report the differences I am getting, if any...

what kind of temp dif are you seeing after the change? I just built my first loop over the last few days. I based it off your setup so I'm pretty interested what kind of temps you're looking at?

So the loops have warmed up and the liquid temp has dropped on the CPU loop by 3.6c & the overall load temp on the CPU it self has dropped roughly 2.5c Not huge but an improvement for just taking the chipset off this loop. As for the GPU loop the lower card is now the cooler of the 2 which is good as less heat is generated that rises into the 2nd card, and the temp difference between the 2 cards has come closer together. When the flow was going from GPU 1 to GPU 2 the bottom GPU would run about 3c hotter Now with the flow going from the bottom to top the temps are only 1c apart. Nothing huge, but in general better. Now the GPU loop did get an additional amount of heat to cool along with having more pressure and resistance to overcome, but with the basics of allowing the heat to flow the way it should (UP) There is a difference in temps. First off before the swap the VREG's on the CPU loop ran at about 45c idle and would reach 52c when the CPU was under full load. Now that they have been switched to the GPU loop the VREG's run at 45C with the GPU's under full load, which overall allowed us to drop the chipset temps 7c. To me that is a huge temp drop which I am sure will lead to a more stable OC. I haven't let the system run idle yet as I am seeing how hot everything gets, but it will be nice to see what temps the VREG's sit at idle. As for the GPU's its hard to say how hot they are getting just yet. It was 95 degree outside today and is still currently 82 degrees in my office, and with F@H running for the last 1 hour+ the GPU's are holding at 45C at full load. Now earlier today in the old loop GPU #2 was peaking at 51C and GPU #1 was at 47C, so in general it seems the cards are running cooler, but overall the big difference is that card #2 is cooler overall and within range of GPU #1's temps. I am going to allow more testing and let these temps set in a bit more before I make a full blown conclusion, but so far the temps seem to be better. Will that yield a better OC? who knows, but until I find out stay tuned.

Overall with a few days of gaming & Folding I can now approve of this new loop change. It isn't a huge difference, but a few C drop overall is more than worth the adjustments.

sledgehammer70 Yes I stayed away from 3D monitors on purpose. Why?

3D is cool, but not wortht he cost, nor do I care to play my current games in 3D.
