Hello, I have a Qnix qx2710 monitor and recently got a evga 1080 sc. I am having issues with the monitor as it bugs out when I restart my computer with the monitor overclocked to 120hz. After testing, i was able to overclock it to 81hz but that seems to be the limit where it's stable. I did not have this problem with my previous evga 780 ftw. Any ideas? Thank you.

Attached is the screen i am seeing.

The image doesn't display for me. People with 10 or less posts can't post links, maybe its the same for images?

People get around it by uploading to imgur and breaking up the link with spaces and posting as text.

How do you have the Qnix monitor hooked up to the 1080 card? It looks like a 60Hz monitor so the idea that you would be able to oc that to 120 is very unlikely

qnix qx2710 uses dvi-d cable and it is overclockable to 120hz. It looks like quite a few people are having the same problems. Also, it was working in 120hz with my evga 780.

It states it is overclockable. are they guaranteeing you won't have any problems overclocking at 120hz? Sounds to me it's not the GPU, but the monitor.

To overclock a Qnix (I used to have one) you have to make sure the quality of your monitor cable is good. Secondly when overclocking the method you're using may not work so as an experiment (at your own risk) try the old EVGA Pixel overclock tool:

He said in OP that this monitor did OC with the evga 780 he had...

implying 1) the cable is good for 120hz, and 2) the monitor is good for 120hz.

so, either the software doesn't work properly with the 1080, or the 1080 has an architectural change that doesn't allow this type of OC'ing.

Thanks, I will give this a shot when I am back from work.
I'm also going to try the method in the post below for anyone with similar issues.

Unfortunately not. Apparently there is an issue with Pascal not booting correctly past 330 mhz DL-DVI pixel clock. So its affecting anyone with a 10 series gpu and it's up to nvidia to put out a fix for this issue.

An nvidia rep responded to a thread to this problem on their official forums at www. forums.geforce .com/default/topic/946217/geforce-1000-series/gtx-10-series-can-t-boot-correctly-past-330-mhz-dl-dvi-pixel-clock/post/4914565/#4914565
So it looks like it's atleast got their attention and being looked at.

oh man.. So even if I got my hands on one of these beast of a card, I cant use it on my old, but still good, 120hz Alienware AW2310?.. But it sounds like you cant exceed 81hz, or you could get this bug.

You definitely can. The problem seems to be DVI at the moment. There shouldn't be any problems with DisplayPort or HDMI.

EDIT: And it only occurs if you have more than 330 MHz pixel clock which only happens with very few monitors (most of them are overclocked monitors). Displays with a pixel clock that high usually use DP or HDMI, but no DVI, so you won't have any problems with 120Hz oder 144Hz refresh rate.

    The AW2310 is dual-link DVI (120hz}, and HDMI (60hz)..

Just wanted to chime in and report this same problem. Qnix worked great at 120hz w my gtx 970 but the gtx 1080 has messed it up.

1080p is fine. It's 1440p and 81hz and over that is having issues. And also seems to only be reported by qnix owners due to using dldvi. So, if you use displayport or use 1080p then it's not an issue.

Update from NVIDIA at www. forums.geforce .com/default/topic/946217/geforce-1000-series/gtx-10-series-can-t-boot-correctly-past-330-mhz-dl-dvi-pixel-clock/post/4917729/#4917729
    ManuelGuzman
Some gamers using our latest Pascal based GPUs connected to high refresh rate monitor have reported that the highest refresh rates or resolutions are not available when connected using DVI. This behavior is due to limited bandwidth available on the DVI cables. NVIDIA recommends that these high performance monitors be connected using DP instead of DVI. DP natively has much higher performance and will support the full capabilities of modern monitors.

In addition, NVIDIA is updating our driver to attempt to run at higher clocks on older DVI cables and enable all monitor modes. However, this high clock behavior is beyond the cable specification and depending on cable and monitor quality, may be unstable or non-functional.
