Hi everyone.

I recently purchased an EVGA 550 GS PSU on amazon and other parts to build up a new computer. First thing I notice when I finished the build is a high pitched constant noise that comes form the PSU immediatly after I turn on the computer. I tried testing the PSU alone and it still emits that constant noise not being connected to anything but the tester bundled with the PSU.
The computer functions perfectly fine otherwise, I have run it for several hours without any problem and even had like an hour of gaming. Still the annoying high pitched noise remained constant all along. I'm not sure if it is coil whine as the noise is constant in pitch and intensity. I'm not overclocking anything yet.
Is there any way I can fix this?  I am not able to RMA the PSU because I'm no longer in the United States.

This is my build, max power consumption is roughly 400W

Mobo MSI Z170A PCMate
EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC
Samsung EVO 850
2TB Hitachi HDD

    Welcome to the forums ahi91,

What you are describing is coil whine or electrical noise.  There really isn't anything that can be done in most cases and replacement is all that you can do.

You said your no longer in the US.  Where are you now?  Are you active duty military?

No, I was actually visiting the United States for vacations. I am from Colombia, Latin America.

Is there any way EVGA could provide a replacement or technical service from where I live?

Just a heads up for anyone in the same situation.

I called EVGA Miami and they told me I had to send the PSU back to the United States so I could get a replacement because the purchase was made there. I guess I'll have to learn to live with that intense whistle.
