Hello there

Just like many people here, I bought a GTX 750 Ti SC and was surprised by the fact that the fan doesn't run at a speed lower than 40%. To make the card quieter, I've tried flashing a custom BIOS using nvflash and Maxwell Bios Tweaker 1.36. The problem is I can't complete the BIOS replacement due to Maxwell BIOS Tweaker changing the original checksum after I click "Save BIOS".

Am I doing something wrong? I'm currently using the following command: nvflash -6 (biosname).rom, on an elevated command prompt and with the GPU disabled on Device Manager. If there's no easy way to fix this checksum thing, is there anything I can do to make the card quieter?

I'm currently using a Thermaltake V3 case that stands on the floor, next to my desk, but I'll soon upgrade to the Thermaltake Core V1 mini ITX case and I intend to keep it on my desk right beside my monitor and speakers, and as things are now I'm pretty sure the noise will be even more noticeable :(

It's completely normal for the checksum to change after saving a edited vbios.

Well, I didn't know that, I thought BIOSes retained the same checksum and that's why people could flash their GPUs. Since it's normal for the checksum to change, what am I doing wrong then? So far I've tried:

nvflash --protectoff
nvflash -6 (biosname).rom

and always got the same errors:

Code 8: BCRT_ERROR_CODE_BODY_SIGNATURE_MISMATCH
and
Code 7: BCRT_ERROR_CODE_BODY_FNV_HASH_MISMATCH

What version of nvflash are you using?

You should also be using the kepler bios tweaker not the maxwell one.

Thx, I'll check the file in that link. It's a bit late here where I live so I'll post updates after some couple hours. Also, why should I use the Kepler one? Isn't GTX 750 Ti the 1st Maxwell GPU?

Isn't GTX 750 Ti the 1st Maxwell GPU?

It's a maxwell gpu based on kepler architecture.

"The GM107 (Maxwell) at the heart of the GTX 750 Ti is based on Nvidia’s Kepler architecture, but significantly different than its predecessor."

Hello again

Tried the nvflash from that link you posted and I managed to flash the 0% fan BIOS, but had issues with the drivers that didn't recognize the card / didn't work as it should. So I had to revert to the old BIOS.

Also tried the Kepler BIOS Tweaker but it didn't let me change the "fan control" settings. Does that mean there's no way to lower the fan speeds? D:

Just use the maxwell tweaker. You may need to re-install the graphics drivers after flashing a modded vbios.

Man you're my hero lol

It took me quite a bit of time and lots of reboots to make it work properly, but now I'm able to enjoy pure quietness when the card isn't at full load.

Thanks a lot!!

If anyone in need of help ever comes across this topic, here are the steps I took to make the flash sucessful:

1 - Used GPU-Z to make a copy of the current BIOS, edited it on Maxwell Bios Tweaker (kept a backup copy)
2 - Unninstaled GPU drivers
3 - Rebooted on safe mode, ran Display Driver Uninstaller, removed everything related to the GPU and rebooted again
4 - Flashed the card using modded BIOS, rebooted
5 - Installed the GPU drivers, rebooted
6 - Checked if there was any issues with your video drivers on Device Manager, since there wasn't anything with marked with a ! or any kind of symbol you don't see under normal conditions, I assumed everything went OK.
7 - Ran 15 minutes of Furmark while monitoring temps and fan speeds to confirm if the changes I made on the BIOS were running fine.

Everything went fine on Furmark, so I guess everything's OK now. I just hope that when I update the video drivers I won't have to do all that stuff again

I'm having problems setting the proper values in BIOS. Could you post a screenshot of yours fr reference, please? I have EVGA GTX750 TI. My settings are below.

Hey there

Here's a screenshot of mine.

All I did was change the RPM11 and PER01 values to 0.
