Punchy I have never had a GPU for crunching PrimeGrid before. What do I need to do to get my 1070 working for this challenge, besides: 1. Finish current [link=mailto:F@H]F@H[/link] WU and then disable [link=mailto:F@H]F@H[/link] client 2. Enable GPU crunching for the right project on the PG website 3. Enable BOINC to use GPU Anything else? app_config tricks even?
If you do not want to use your CPU for this challenge (only GPU): On the PrimeGrid website -> PrimeGrid preferences - Select either ATI or Nvidia for the AP27 project.
- You will have to select CPU for something under "Projects" preferences, it won't let you leave it blank.
- At the top "Primary Preferences" uncheck "use CPU".
- Now you will only download GPU AP27 tasks.
Hope this helps and now everyone knows my name!

980ti also does 2 wu faster than 1 by an average of a couple minutes. I was concerned about more heat but it wasn't the case. I won't have time to test my other cards before the contest. Less than six hours now. I may miss the start.

My 1080 is rocking them out at 2025Mhz in 1050 Seconds or less (18 minutes) My 970 is doing about 1200Mhz and 2480 Seconds or less (41 minutes) though boinc shows 35 Internal case temp is 40C with the 1080 at 67C and the 970 at 78C

Back up and running, with 18mins to spare, that was cutting it a bit tight.... Found the radiator had leaked and now has very little coolant, so pump failed..

For Heat and a Solid 100% GPU and 100-106% Power I will stick with 1 Task Per GPU. I think that 2 or 3 minutes are not going to make that big of a difference in the end. Remember Team Do Not Download Any Tasks Before the Start Time.

Did you make sure "use Ati/Nvidia GPU" is selected at the very top of the preferences page? It's one of the more confusing choices, even if you select OpenCL tasks on the project list if it's not selected up top you wants get any.

I had to start way early as I am working till 4pm today. How does the 2 tasks per gpu work? Does it just shave a few minutes in total off the 2 units combined? I would personally think the overhead of running 2 units at once would decrease the throughput. I could try setting that up this evening if it really helps. Be interesting to see if Pascals better preemption makes a significant difference.
By using the app_config file it makes the GPU run two at the same time. If it does two WUs in less time than it takes to do two WUS one at one time, it is worth doing it that way. Not sure why, but most of the time it is better to do two at a time.

Another way to look at it is, if you wait til a unit is at 50% and kick the 2nd one in, in my case I'll be finishing one every 22 minutes instead of every 24 minutes. 3-4? I'm not ready to go there yet. Lol.

I saw the extra long times and wanted to make sure. I haven't had much luck with the xml editing, but I'll try it again tonight. Can't believe I'm at 34 on the list. Guess that's the gpu multiplier.
