I've been having issues with stuttering after setting up my system. Specifically, I've been testing with the Heaven benchmark. Tri-SLI Titan X's with surround Acer XB270HU monitors; running the benchmark at 7680x1440, moderate settings so that it drops as low as 45-50 FPS in heavier scenes so it's giving G-SYNC a bit of a workout. I was doing the following, using either the 350 or 347 drivers - either give me the same result:
uninstall drivers using DDU (in safe mode); reboot
picks up the hardware automatically; reboot
install driver, only the graphics driver and physX, everything else unselected; config surround; reboot
At this point, it's up and running normally. Start Heaven benchmark, looks great - smooth as silk, G-SYNC is pretty amazing.
Stop benchmark, go do "other stuff" - web, whatever.
Start benchmark again, and it will stutter. it's not VSYNC-like, really - more of a pause, like it's frozen for a very short period of time. Happens more in heavier (lower FPS) scenes - the first and the fourth in Heaven in particular, but it also happens even in the lightest scenes, when the framerate is up to 144. Rebooting doesn't fix it, killing processes doesn't fix it.
This is completely repeatable, and doesn't matter whether I use the 347 or 350 drivers - it's smooth at first, then starts to stutter over time, as long as Precision is installed.
After a lot of screwing around, I decided to try afterburner to see if it'd make a difference. Uninstalled Precision, and before installing AB, decided to test - the stuttering is totally gone. Doesn't matter if I have other stuff open in the background, like web - it's still completely smooth. Installed AB, same problem but much less than Precision - where I might see perhaps 20 stutters in a scene with precision installed, I see 2-3 with AB. Note that I didn't leave AB installed long, perhaps it would get worse like Precision seems to, over time.
Any thoughts?
