The only thing stopping me from moving to Precision X OC is the lack of an option to enable the CPU temperature to be displayed in the tray. Can this be added, or is it possible and I can't see the setting?

CPU: Intel i7 6700k @ 4.7Ghz (1.325v)
Cooling: Corsair H110i GT CPU Cooling
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VIII Hero Z170
RAM: Kingston 32GB FuryX DDR4 2667 @2666MHz (1.200v/15-15-15-34)
GPU: EVGA GTX 1080 FTW 8GB @~2100/10962 (+80%/130%/88°C/+Curve/+475 - Extra 50 MHz with Curve)
HDD: 5* 4TB WD RED
OS SSD: 1* Samsung 850 Evo 500GB SSD
Gaming SSD: 1* OCZ 500GB SSD
Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D
PSU: Corsair RM850X PSU
Monitor: AOC U3277PQU 32" [link=mailto:3840x2160@60Hz]3840x2160@60Hz[/link]

Some of the above parts no longer work due to damage from my EVGA 1080 FTW.

As far as I know, the setting should be there for your CPU..Open the OSD settings..Select GPU Statistic and CPU (package temp)/CPU-1 (core 1 temp)..Select Show in tray icon..Select the icon color you want..Select the Maximum value (in C.) temperature and to Play alarm when the Maximum value is met or exceeded if you want.

You cannot change the icon size..If you don't see CPU Temperature or CPU-1 Temperature listed, set Precision XOC to Start With OS and restart your PC because there is a CPU detection bug (for me at least) when Precision XOC is started manually such as from desktop shortcut and those temps are not shown.

One more question, bob16314: I've set P OX to boot with Windows, yet it doesn't appear to want to. I've done it the correct way (not pressing the Start Windows option, but doing it through the general options area).

Any ideas?

Re: Precision X OC CPU temperature in tray - is it possible? 2016/10/27 04:38:30 (permalink)
That's been a problem for some people for a while now..The new PXOC version 6.0.8 just came out yesterday, you can give it a try, but I noticed it does the same thing too for me: PXOC doesn't show CPU Temp when started from the desktop shortcut, but shows it when Start With OS is selected upon booting, every single time without fail..If I close PXOC and re-open it, the CPU Temp is missing..Only when Start With OS is selected does the CPU Temp show up in the OSD Settings..Buggy.

After you uninstall PXOC and before restarting your PC (as prompted) and reinstalling again, try deleting the Precision XOC folder located in the Program Files (x86)\EVGA folder..That contains the old .cfg files which are not removed when you uninstall.

There's always the reliable MSI Afterburner (best bet) you can use, it shows CPU Temp in tray and should work perfectly.

That's about all I can tell you until the bugs get worked out by the PXOC development team.

I've had issues with Precision starting since forever. I just make a shortcut to it in the Windows startup folder so it starts that way. Click Start, type Run, press enter, type shell:startup, press enter, this will open a window, drop shortcut to Precision in there. Will start every time for sure, no need to mess with the in program settings.
