Hi all I just upgraded some PC parts, motherboard, GPU, RAM, CPU and a SSD. Motherboard: MSI z87 gaming Mpower Gpu Evga GeForce GTX770 4gb RAM CORSAIR 2x 8gb Vengeance Pro 2400mhz SSD Samsung EVO PRO The problem with this upgrade is that my Current PSU(ANTEC 650w True Power TRIO) doesn't have enough 8pin connectors, it has 1 8pin EPS , 1 4pin ATX, 2x 6pin PCI-e The motherboard needs 2 8pins and the GPU need 2 8pin PCI-e connectors. I already went over the budget for this upgrade and now I'm stuck, seems converters would not give the correct amount of power needed. Or would it? What PSU has 2 x 8pin EPS connectors?

1 8pin EPS should be plenty for normal usage, the other would be for extra power for ln2 type extreme overclocking. Your gpu should only need 1 6pin PCI e and 1 8pin PCI-e. You sure the gpu has two 8pin PCI-e? I think the kingpin/classifieds are the only cards with that.

just checked, it's 1x 8pin and 1x 6pin on the GPU. And got a 2x molex to 6pin PCI-e converter.

You can use the adapters, just don't put the 2x Molex on the same cable from the PSU. Your best option is to get a new power supply with the proper connectors for your motherboard and GPU.

I struggle to find EVGA PSU's in my country, we only get the motherboards and GPUs here. Available: Corsair, Coolermaster, ANTEC, SEASONIC, Thermaltake, Gigabyte, RAIDMAX, FRACTUAL DESIGN, Cougar, Raptor, Zalman. Seen a SEASONIC 850w with all the correct connectors, but don't know this brand actually, seems cheaper than other PSU's

SEASONIC is oem for corsair's and some of antec's psu's, so they make the best imo.

They aren't the OEM for all of Corsair's units: their best ones actually come from both Seasonic and Flextronics. Nonetheless, Seasonic, Flextronics, and Delta have the best desktop units on the market today. Seasonic owns the lower price range with their G series modular units; have a look at them, they might be the best for you. If you're feeling more spendy, the best options are Seasonic Platinum and other PSUs that use the same platform as these units (XFX has some, Cooler Master has some), Corsair AX series, and Antec High Current Pro Platinum.

Be careful with Cooler Master. They have a lot of mediocre units, and some absolute top of the line ones. Unfortunately they have so many different PSU lineups that I forget which are the top of the line ones (Seasonic based ones are their best, and they're expensive). When looking for PSUs, remember to look at reviews on places like jonnyguru, techpowerup, and pcper.

The V series are Cooler Masters top of the line units right now. They are Seasonic made, and usually pull platinum numbers or very close to platinum but are gold rated.

DAVE2HOT4U This is the psu I use (http://www.modthebox.com/review530_1.shtml) it can be bought at (http://www.microcenter.com/product/407837/ZPG-1200B_1200W_Modular_ATX_Power_Supply) I have had mine for approx. 5yrs with no problems. I have always been one to believe that if the psu is larger than the draw on it. That the psu will last longer due to less heat.
With a Coolmax youd have to buy them that way.... and waaayyyy over at that. There is a reason why they are 139.00 and every other 1200 watt unit is close to double that. With PSU's, you def get what you pay for. Get the absolute best PSU you can buy, it runs your whole pc. If it blows out it can take other parts with it, especially the cheaply made ones that try to cheat on the protection circuits....if they include them at all.

Best I can afford would be a 850w Seasonic(my best bet now). or Coolermaster at about the same price or Coolermaster But it's like $120 more for a 850w(so doesn't make sense for my budget), but I like the fan control unit. Which Seasonic and Cooler Master and Corsair PSUs? The Seasonic X-850 and Cooler Master V850 are the same PSU I believe. I think the Corsair AX860 is the same as the Seasonic Platinum 860. So get whatever is cheapest. Seasonic and Corsair offer 7 year warranties, I think Cooler Master offers less.

The Corsair AX850 is by far the best power supply out of all of those. I don't advise any of those Cooler Master units, only the V850, which is the same as the AX850 and Seasonic X-850.

+1... the CM M2 units are only silver rated units and decent builds but they tend to stay at the bottom of there silver ratings.

Good choice. That's one of the absolute best performers in its wattage range. The "i" indicates it's from Flextronics opposed to Seasonic, and works with Corsair's software thingy which doesn't seem to serve any real purpose.

In my opinion, it isn't. I consider the software to be useless, and it performs essentially the same as the regular AX860.

Makes sense. Received it yesterday, it looks great and should be easy to install, just cable management that's always a headache if you want things looking very neat
